Head-Technology & Network Strategy

Position Summary :

Position is responsible for assisting CTO and the Senior Management Team in developing a medium and long term Technology & Network Strategy aligned with the Business priorities and objectives.

Account Abilities :

- To lead a high level Technology & Network Strategy team to create a medium and long term Technology & Network Strategy in alignment with the Business & Financial Objectives.

- Setting up Policy framework for Technology & Network architectures in line with standards / specifications mandated by the regulator and governance around across Core, Aggregation and Access networks including customer premises equipment and devices for wireless/ Wireline / Transmission networks .

- Maintain and develop industry knowledge including awareness of emerging technologies, network architectures, customer end devices/ equipment's, products and solutions.

- Engaging relevant stakeholders in the organisation for awareness building around the technology evolution and potential Business Alignment.

- Constant engagement with Business Teams and Market environment to understand the customer behaviour, their needs and alignment of Technology / Network solutions.

- Continuous assessment of the existing network architecture and preparing transformation plans for legacy technology and architectures in line with the current and future evolution in a phased manner to suit the business objectives and next generation requirements.

- Constant engagement with the vendors / suppliers of technologies / network solutions for new products and solutions for potential adoption.

- Value engineering approach for the operational network and identify opportunities for the optimization and consolidation based on the utilization trends and business regionalisation.

- Support Business & their Product teams for developing strategy for cost effective products and solutions.

- Constant assessment of spectrum availability and developing strategy on technology roadmap along with possible opportunities on spectrum sharing with other operators.

- Constant engagement with DOT/ Telecom Regulatory / Telecom Standards Bodies to understand policy evolution for appropriate strategy alignment.

- Organize and Conduct Technology workshops/Inductions within the organisation for relevant stakeholders for awareness building.

- Participation in relevant Technology forums.

Skill Required :

- Strong knowledge and experience across Core, Aggregation and Access for Strategy, Planning, Design & Engineering, Implementation and Operations in,

- Wireless Technologies CDMA/EVDO/2G/3G/4G/WiFi/WRAN and related technology evolution.

- Intelligent Networks & other Core elements

- Wireline Networks in C4/C5 and services.

- Wireline Broadband Access

- Should be well ware on the devices eco systems across wireless and Wireline networks and specifically for Indian Industry and local market requirements such as Smart phones, their operating systems, Integrated Services devices, multimedia devices, etc.

- IP Core, Access & Transport Networks for Wireless & Wireline networks

- IP-MPLS, Metro -Ethernet

- Optical & Microwave Transmission Networks,

- Optical Transmission Technologies and architectures such as WDM/CWDM/DWDM/PTN/OTN/ASON/Cross Connects.

- Signaling Network Architectures

- SON / SDN / NFV Network architectures

- OSS / BSS / Network Operations Centers & Relevant IT systems and applications.

- Broad level knowledge on Data centers and cloud Architectures.

- Lawful Interception

- Passive Infrastructure and their relevance to the Telecom industry.

- Road level knowledge and experience in Power supply systems/ Air Conditioning systems for telecom infrastructure.

- Should be well aware on Telecom services evolution on VAS and OTT.

- Excellent understanding of Wireless spectrum bands globally and locally and their technology relevance for Telecom.

- Should be well aware on National Frequency Plan for India and time to time updates being released by the DOT/WPC.

- Excellent understanding of Indian Telecom Industry and Regulatory environment and policies.

- Awareness on spectrum auctions and methodology.

- Should be well aware on the future Telecom Technology evolution globally / locally and estimates for minimum 5 years from now.

- Should be well aware on the Financial/ Costs aspects of Network and Technology solutions and should be able to assist relevant stakeholders in making sound business case for any Technology / Network intervention.

Qualification and Experiences :

- Minimum 20+years in Telecom Industry across Technology & Networks Strategy, Planning/Design/Engineering, Implementation and Operations Management

- B-Tech/M-Tech in Electronics & Communications / Computer Engineering & Science / Electrical Engineering

- MBA would be preferred but not mandatory.
