Head - Tax Financial Reporting

Domnic Lewis has been mandated to hire a Head of Tax Financial Reporting, Flotation Products for a leading Cement and Mining industry with Products like Crushers, Rotary Kiln, Thickeners.

Roles & Responsibilities :

The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all businesses within the global organization comply with the Group Tax Policy, particularly concerning the financial reporting of taxes.

This entails the following responsibilities :

- Execute compliance procedures for calculating and documenting tax assets, liabilities, and expenses in line with IFRS IAS 12 and internal reporting standards. Provide support to GBS Finance in recording tax balances within ERP systems.

- Oversee governance, control, and reporting processes to guarantee that activities related to the financial reporting of taxes are delivered on time and in full (DIFOT) for all businesses.

- Implement processes that facilitate the timely and accurate preparation of calculations and documentation for the financial reporting of Tax Cost and Cashflow impacts of taxes, including tax assets, liabilities, and expenses, in accordance with IFRS IAS 12 and internal reporting standards.

- Collaborate with Global Tax Advisors (Direct Tax and Tax Risk & Strategy) in identifying, developing, and executing strategies that enhance tax control frameworks and process efficiencies for the financial reporting of taxes.

Major Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance:

- Monitor the adequacy of processes employed by GBS-TAX to ensure the accurate calculation of tax assets, liabilities, and expenses for businesses.

- Supervise and manage DIFOT for tax calculation processes within the scope of financial reporting of taxes.

- Oversee the preparation and timely supply of calculation data, along with supporting information and documentation, to OSPs and/or Regional in-house tax teams.

- Support Global Tax Advisors - Direct Tax and Regional Tax Partners in consolidated financial tax reporting for the organization and responses to auditors.

Tax Governance:

- Ensure that GBS-TAX financial reporting of tax operations align with the Group Tax Policy and its associated procedures.

- Participate in processes that support the development, documentation, implementation, and effectiveness testing of the tax control framework for financial reporting of tax obligations within the scope.

Tax Controversy & Risk:

- Identify, assess, and report tax risks associated with operational processes for financial reporting of tax to Global Tax Advisors (Tax Risk Management) and Regional Tax Partners.

- Provide information and documentation as needed to respond to requests from tax authorities and audits, ensuring timely and complete delivery to agreed standards.

Tax Cost & Reporting:

- Assist GBS-Direct Tax, Global and Regional finance, and tax teams in reconciling and accounting for the true-up from "provision to return" following the filing of Direct tax returns.

Strategy:

- Collaborate with Global Tax Advisors - Direct Tax and Regional Tax Partners in developing operational processes that bolster tax control frameworks and enhance process efficiencies for Tax Financial Reporting.

Other:

- Manage, administer, develop, and support GBS-TAX team members in matters related to financial reporting of taxes.

- Perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the Head of Global Tax Operational Services (GBS Tax).

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

- Profound subject matter expertise in IFRS IAS 12 and accounting for taxes.

- Relevant degree with experience and knowledge acquired through professional or commercial avenues.

- Post-qualification experience in audit, advisory, or corporate roles with a focus on financial reporting of taxes.

- Ongoing membership in appropriate professional bodies relevant to the role.

- Proficiency in building strong internal and external relationships.

- Ability to navigate ambiguity and collaboratively resolve complex issues.

- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral, to engage with global stakeholders and service providers.

- Exceptional organizational skills, ensuring effective planning and housekeeping standards.

- Leadership and management skills, including effective delegation and team motivation.

- Proficiency in standard MS Office suite programs, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

- Experience using ERP databases and reporting systems.

- Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

- Logical thinking, creative problem-solving, and sound decision-making skills.
