Position title : Head of Strategic Sourcing

Location : Baner, Pune

Work Schedule : 5 days a week, General Shift

Duties and Responsibilities:

Role Objective :

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for setting strategic directions and goals for the Procurement function. This role involves developing procurement strategies aligned with the organization's growth plan, fostering long-term supplier partnerships, and establishing a profitable supply chain. Key responsibilities include overseeing the commercial aspects of purchasing, driving supplier selection, negotiating prices, coordinating new materials, and onboarding new suppliers.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise NPI Purchasing staff, Commodity management staff, and Indirect Goods and Services Purchasing staff.

- Develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers, and parts/services to achieve goals in supplier quality, delivery, price, and service.

- Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, and product management to align strategy and execution.

- Drive Procurement KPIs and focus on continuous improvement in procurement activities.

- Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives with supplier quality and planning.

- Co-develop local new suppliers with Supplier Development/SQE.

- Define supplier base gaps periodically and involve commodity teams to find relevant suppliers.

- Drive cost structure analysis concepts within the procurement teams and identify future material cost savings projects.

- Monitor and support the execution of identified cost-saving projects.

- Execute the global business unit strategy and manage the Indian-based Purchasing group to meet business unit goals.

- Collaborate with Human Resources to develop necessary training modules and oversee headcount planning, recruitment, rotation, development, and succession planning.

Education/Knowledge:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering or related field.

- Knowledge of various phases of product realization and development.

- Familiarity with local/regional/global supplier base for various components and SAP.

Critical Experience:

- 15+ years' experience as Senior Buyer/Commodity Manager/Purchasing Manager in Automotive, Electronics, or similar industries.

- Experience in supplier selection and development of components/parts according to industry standards.

- Previous experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and coordination with global procurement teams.

- Experience in cost structure analysis and cost reduction programs.

Competencies:

- Negotiation skills, SAP knowledge, and strong analytical skills.

- Excellent communication skills in English and local language.

- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications.
