Job Title: HEAD STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS AND RESOURCE MOBILIZATION

Reporting to: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Location: NEW DELHI

Introduction:

Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF) is an independent society set by the Government of India in 2013 through a cabinet decision to promote and upscale civil society action in partnership with the Government. The mandate of BRLF is to transform the livelihoods and the lives of the rural poor, especially in the Central Indian Adivasi Belt, which is the initial geography of focus of the Foundation. BRLF has partnered with 75 CSOs in the past eight years, reaching over 12 lakh households in 9 states. While BRLF is supported by the Corpus fund from the Government of India, funds are also sourced from private trusts and philanthropic organisations.

Vision:

BRLF vision is that people living in rural areas, particularly in the Central Indian Tribal Region, are empowered and have sustainable livelihoods.

Mission:

BRLF's mission is to facilitate and upscale civil society action in partnership with Government for transforming livelihoods and lives of rural households, with an emphasis on women, particularly in the Central Indian Tribal Region

Goal:

Their goal is to empower rural India, ameliorating the lives of its impoverished populace, especially the indigenous tribes and strengthening their confidence in the government and Indian democracy, in coordination with CSOs, Government of India and governments of various states. BRLF aims to better channelize funds allocated by governments, banks, corporates and other philanthropic foundations for various public programmes, and ensure their proper implementation at the grassroots to generate best results.

Reason for the hire:



BRLF seeks an efficient and self-motivated professional for the Head- Strategic Partnerships and Resource Mobilization position to lead its resource mobilisation efforts. Under the guidance of the CEO, Head- SP & RM takes the responsibility of raising funds following the directions and strategy of BRLF. The Head- SP&RM leads cultivating and leveraging a more substantial donor support base for BRLF across bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic foundations, INGOs, Corporates and HNIs. He/she will lead the development and presentation of concept notes/proposals to potential donors and partners, working closely with the program team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Resource Mobilization Strategy

- Developing an understanding of BRLF's programmes and the partners across the organisation

- Build on BRLF's institutional resource mobilisation strategy and lead the implementation and coordination of an institution-wide, comprehensive donor relations and stewardship system that fosters positive and mutually rewarding connections between BRLF and its donors.

- Contribute to developing various audio-visual materials and documents to strengthen resource mobilisation

- Travel outside Delhi to project locations to perform duties as deemed necessary

Donor Cultivation

- Expanding the database of potential donors, including high net-worth individuals in the space of rural livelihoods

- Profiling and mapping of new donor prospects in BRLF geographies

- Developing concept notes, proposals and budgets which match BRLF's mandate and align with BRLF and the donor priorities

- Prospecting bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic, public and private sector CSR partnership opportunities into funds and leverage in the advancement of program and resource targets

Donor Management

- Organize briefings, meetings, visits and events with current and prospective donors, coordinate programmatic and logistical arrangements, draft reports and set action plans for follow-ups

- Prepare responses to donor queries in consultation with the CEO

- Maintain regular communication with donors and prospects

- Identify critical prospects and arrange meetings with the senior team members

Other Responsibilities

- Represent BRLF at external meetings/events and network with bodies like CII, FICCI, and other relevant stakeholders where appropriate.

- Oversee preparation of MIS reports related to resource mobilization and the performance against the RM targets.

- Oversee the website's RM section and improvise to widen RM activities

COMPETENCIES & SOFT SKILLS

- Ability to conceptualize and develop concept notes and proposals per the donors' requirements, particularly in the rural livelihood's domain.

- Strong understanding of NRM-based rural livelihoods sector

- Ability to work on performance-based targets for fundraising.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Results-oriented and accountable

- Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams

- Self-motivated and able to take initiative.

- Command of computer skills, particularly in MS Office, is highly desirable.

- Exhibit extraordinarily high standards of integrity, transparency and teamwork at the workplace.

- Good communication and representational skills along with the ability to build value-based relationships.

- Mature professional with the ability to handle multiple stakeholders and complex situations

- Ability to understand the demands and work under pressure

- Ability to work strategically in close alignment with the vision of the organization

EXPERIENCE"

Must Haves:

- Master's degree in social sciences or management or any other relevant field

- Experience of at least 15 years in the rural development sector with demonstrable success in resource mobilization for NGOs or INGOs

- Good understanding of the donor funding landscape and processes, particularly in the rural livelihoods sector

Preferable:

- Experience of stakeholder management, particularly with the Government.

- Well versed with Official government written communication.
