Head - Sourcing & Procurement - Staples/Pulses/Agri Commodities

This role is one of the senior most position in the organization and thus require a very highly skillful approach to minor details and to ensure highly cost effective procurement.

Purpose

The role is aimed to lead Sourcing, Supply Development & Contract Milling activities by developing, and managing strategic vendor partnerships using relationships, along with data analytics, to solve problems and achieve business goals by focusing on strategic sourcing principles in the procurement process to ensure the cost-effective purchase of all materials, whilst ensuring quality control and compliance with the Company's policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities / Deliverables / Outcomes / Impact

1. Evaluate sourcing procedures and create improvement strategies by analyzing and calculating procurement costs and developing cost reduction strategies.

2. Drive purchase decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends. Conduct market research, as well as create cost estimates and forecasts and drive procurement department to identify and pursue new supplier opportunities. Negotiate contracts with key suppliers, including costs and terms of supply, service, and quality.

3. Hire, develop, and manage procurement department employees.

4. Maintain strategic sourcing relationships and cultivate strong partnerships and execute and manage supplier relationships and contracts containing favourable terms to the Company to reduce costs, reduce working capital, ensure product quality, and meet the Company's requirements.

5. Estimate risks and apply risk minimizing techniques, conduct risk analysis to identify issues (financial, operational and/or regulatory) and develop risk mitigation strategy. Communicate risks and mitigation strategies to business leaders.

6. Act as trusted adviser to business partners in the vendor sourcing process, communicating strategic approach for vendor negotiations.

7. Partner with internal stakeholders in the organisation to: define requirements; assist with identifying vendors; lead evaluations; provide vendor evaluation framework; and vendor selection.

8. Review and redefine commercial components of contracts along with legal team

9. Facilitate efforts across multiple product categories as well as multiple geographies in developing sourcing and executable buying strategies within each product category.

10. Spot the opportunities to source commodities closer to the farm (farmers, farm-level aggregators, mandis etc) and implement viable options to increase the sourcing from the upstream

11. Ensure the own brands are packaged and tied from the source to the DCs as per the quality and process norms

12. Professionally manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement

13. Work closely across multiple business functions to streamline the procure to pay process cycle

14. Lead contract milling operations to ensure it as an effective source.

Candidate Requirements (Education / Work Experience / Skills / Competencies)

15. A Master's degree in business or specialization in advanced procurement management will be advantageous.

16. At least fifteen years' procurement experience in staples and dairy category in a related industry.

17. Advanced ability to negotiate with exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.

18. Strong intuition for business, analytical and interpersonal skills with a high degree of attention to detail.

19. A strong leader with good communication skills who can influence at Leadership Level both internally and externally. Ability to lead and influence peer groups both internally and externally and can be effective in collaborating cross-functionally

20. Excellent organizational and time management skills. A standout and detailed oriented professional who can work independently while prioritizing his/her own work and resources and is motivated in a fast-paced environment managing multiple activities; Ability to work independently as well as in a team and complete assignments within established deadlines

21. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency; Results-orientated with a strong track record of overall execution; Continually striving for improvement and efficiency with strong process orientation

23. Willingness to travel to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.

24. Strong knowledge of market analysis, sourcing category strategy, and supplier relationship management, 'should-cost' models, and long-term negotiation strategies, supplier continuous improvement programs and Lean Initiatives
