Head Purchase - Shipping Major (Chennai)

SOURCING :

1. Should have worked in the Shipping/Manufacturing Industry, handling purchasing of ships' services and supplies

a. Spares, stores, lubes, paints, chemicals, gases, etc

b. Service providers for various equipment

c. Surveying firms

2. Knows the sources of vendors, OEMs, traders, etc to reach out to

3. Work closely with the Technical Superintendent of the ship/s in understanding the ships' needs

ACCOUNTING :

1. Obtain quotations, evaluate, negotiate with vendors for best price, quality and payment terms, incl rate contracts

2. Identify new vendors

3. Have the ability to work with Accounts function in collating and settling invoices

4. Should be computer literate and well conversant with SAP integration with Purchase module

CANDIDATE :

1. Experience in the industry - about 12-15 years

2. Age profile - 42-45 yrs.

3. Location - Chennai

4. Educational Qualification

a. Industry background, command over English language

b. Preferable Marine / Mechanical Engineering; (MBA - not a must)

c. Understands ABC of inventory management

5. Compensation - in line with industry

6. Ability to manage a team of 4-6 people
