Head of People & Projects at Uganda - Bank at Uganda (East Africa)

Qualification: MBA-HR East Africa experience is must.

- The Head of People and Projects will be a key member of the leadership team and provide oversight on the development of people strategy for the group. The role will cover the development and implementation of the Human Resource policies and procedures to recruit, retain, and promote skilled people. The role will require the skill to develop high-performing and diverse teams across multiple markets within Africa.

- This role will require strong organisational and collaborative skills; to be proactive and hands -on and take the lead in a high-pressure FinTech Start-up and fast-paced environment; and develop and promote an organisational culture that supports and demonstrates the Y9 values, mission, and vision. In addition, this role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills.

- To develop project roadmaps and ensure project milestones are achieved within the agreed timeline and budget. To recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ talented and diverse group of high performing team members.

- To provide oversight and direction to team members in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. To coach, mentor and develop team members, including overseeing new team member onboarding and providing career development, planning, and growth opportunities.

- Empower team members to take ownership of their job and goals. Delegate responsibilities as needed and provide routine constructive feedback on performance.

- Create a culture that is consistent with the organizations focus on team member engagement and that aligns with the organizations mission, vision, and values. Lead team members using a performance management and development focused approach to assist in goal setting, two-way feedback, and performance development planning. Lead team members to meet the organizations expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.

- Team leadership Develop and lead a team of specialists responsible for the day-to-day delivery of HR services and risk functions, and further develop an effective business partnership model that is responsive and agile, and meeting expectations of internal stakeholders. Motivate, encourage and support HR staff in country programs in the design and delivery of high quality services.

- Create and maintain key performance indicators ensuring external good practice and thinking is reflected internally. Maintain HR information systems and the financial planning of the department. Support cross-organizational working practices that ensure the HR team influences, and is influenced by, organizational discussions, lessons, and decisions.

- Good people management practice Advocate for good practices that promote the development and wellbeing of all staff. Develop and support leaders and people managers across the organization to organize and deliver their priorities effectively through their teams providing inspiration to advance leadership development processes. Ensure performance review systems are updated, implemented regularly, and lead to positive interaction and follow-up among staff assisting in identifying ways staff recognition and development initiatives can be met.

- Project Management Responsibilities Develop and implement project management strategies to ensure the successful delivery of key initiatives. Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and timelines.

- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement Conduct regular performance assessments and provide coaching and mentorship to team members by efficiently allocating resources, including personnel, budget, and technology, to ensure optimal project performance. Implement robust risk management processes to address potential challenges and obstacles.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with project partners, vendors, and regulatory bodies. Provide regular status updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration, Project Management, or a related field. - A masters and/or management degree would be an added advantage.

- A deep experience in digital solutions or digital marketing in a B2C company Minimum 10 years experience in banking/ financial sector. Strong understanding of microfinance or financial services operations. - Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills About the company- Microfinance bank
