Title / Designation Head - Operations

Location Sari, a fast-growing industrial suburb about 20 kms from Ahmedabad, in the state of Gujarat.

Preferred age-group 38-45 years

Educational qualifications B.E. (Electronics/ Electrical) - or equivalent - with a good academic background and sound fundamentals. A Management Degree is preferred, though not a pre-requisite.

Reporting to Managing Director

Key responsibilities / Key Result :

Areas :

Strategy and development:

- Overall responsibility for product development, manufacturing, sales, finance and HR for of the business unit.

- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure that objectives of the business unit and the organisation are met.

- Coordinate with and support design team for new product development.

- Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety standards and procedures are adhered to.

- Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks.

- Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process.

- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects.

Manufacturing Management:

- Ensure that quality and manufacturing strategies and processes are in place to meet the business objectives.

- Initiate and develop creative and innovative manufacturing processes .

- Take ownership of the manufacturing policies, guidelines and all associated documents including standards.

- Lead, develop and implement programmes across all areas of responsibility.

- Develop a good process for production scheduling and costing to meet the expected cost, quality and timelines.

- Plan on having state of the art equipment and maintaining it.

- Implement product improvement initiatives based on customer feedback, kaizens, etc.

People Management:

- Build a customer-focused culture

- Provide leadership to departments under control and coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.

- Establish strategy and best practices for staff to ensure achievement of overall business objectives.

- Work with the team to translate site strategy into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives including KPIs, and to track them.

- Effective change management

- Create and maintain an appropriate organisation structure with adequate recruitment.

- Work with common services team like accounts and f inance, HR and administration, legal and secretarial, IT, corporate communications to strategize the business requirements for such services and review with them periodically.

Financial and Budget Management:

- Take full responsibility for budgets.

- Be responsible for cash f low management of the unit independently

Relationship Management:

- To be a part of senior management team to drive synergy across all the businesses of the group.

Environment & Safety:

- To ensure safe working environment for all stakeholders within and outside manufacturing premises.

- Ensure that the unit operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.

- To ensure best adherence to the environmental laws, to have pollution mitigating production methods and safe disposal of all industrial waste.

- Prior experience or working knowledge of mechatronics equipment preferred.

- Conversant with electrical / electronic and mechanical engineering drawing standards and knowledge of application software,

- Good understanding of equipment and components, both mechanical and electrical / electronic such as PLC, microprocessors and related hardware including the latest developments in related industries.

- Good understanding of the customer requirement and market .

- Ability to partner sales team and the organisation as and when needed.

- Strong analytical skills and data driven thinking for analysis of engineering standards and their applicability. Coaching and mentoring skills.

- Experience of having worked with ERP.
