Job Description

Head – Sales ( NSM / GM – Sales / VP – Sales)

Job Objective

- Totally responsible for driving and managing the Domestic sales and distribution for maximizing sales revenues by expanding respective channels of both existing and new territories within a given time frame and also build effective Sales force to quality and measurable achievements.

Primary responsibilities

Basically to evaluate and formulate effective Sales strategy specifically focused to Regional demand and acceptance of channels to achieve desired targets of both Top Line / Bottomline revenues with adequate spread of both niche and general products within the category.

Functional Responsibilities

- Takes overall responsibility for implementation of the sales strategy through the establishment of mid to long term performance goals for the Domestic S&D team and ensures their constant review

- Reviews the cascaded sales strategy to Sales teams of various products and channels; Provides inputs to ensure adequate stretch

- Establishes measures, timelines and mechanisms to regularly review the performance against the set targets and provide guidance and support to the team for identified issues

- Drives accurate demand forecasting across regions & products factoring constraints and contingencies with minimal fluctuations of schedules; ensures healthy discussion on the same in S&OP meetings

- Drives the development of guidelines for development of an effective distribution channel and robust dealer networks

- Regularly Monitors the effectiveness of all Distribution channels, plans for their development and

- Reviews all MIS Reports and takes corrective actions in case of variations

Commercial / Finance Responsibilities

- Strategize selling costs & their optimisation & derive the pricing strategy for all products factoring margins and other costs incurred at each level of the supply chain and pricing of competitors

- Creates the annual sales budget for Domestic S&D and decide on the allocation for various products / activities; Monitor adherence to the budgets

- Formulates the credit policy and develop a framework that would be applied across regions to ensure standard credit limits

- Drives efficient Debtor management by monitoring cash flows at various levels and setting mechanisms to ensure that there is no blockage

- Responsible for the efficient functioning of all accounting processes for the Domestic S&D function; while ensuring adherence to sound financial management and accounting policies

- Ensures optimal manpower costs within the department

Field Force Responsibilities

- Drives a culture of performance amongst subordinates – Set goals, review and manage performance, guide and counsel and provide feedback on performance so as to ensure a motivated and committed team

- Develops the capabilities to take on higher responsibilities while performing the given / in-charge responsibilities at various levels within the Sales Department

- Ensures adequate training of sales force to be able to handle market dynamics and meet the requirements of the channel partners

- Qualification / Experience : MBA from a good B” School with 15 -20 years FMCG Industry Sales experience and good exposure to Pan India operations at least for 3-5 years.
