Basic Information & Job Purpose

Job Title: Head - Mine Geologist, Iron Ore Odisha

Reports To: Head - Technical Services, Iron Ore Odisha

Division/Department: Technical Services

Role Summary :

- To ensure smooth running of mining operations and aligned activities across the business units, in an economical way by optimizing mining designs for monthly/annual/long term for safe mining operation and further enhance operations by automation and benchmarked practices that are cost, quality & safety centric within the allocated budget.

Key Accountabilities:

- To validate geological data and implementation of grade control plan.

- Guide and ensure monthly geological mapping, preparation and updating of geological plan and development of geological sections, slice plans as per business plan.

- Prepare grade control plan, blend optimization & ensure to achieve the ROM/ Plant/Dispatch quality of finished ore as per business plan.

- Develop beneficiation strategy in consultation with mineral processing team.

- Testing of fossils, rocks, soils, ores and other materials with the proper instruments.

- Ensure and verify IBM and DMG statutory compliances related to the site location and handling of site inspection by regulatory authorities.

- Ensure adherence to Vedanta Safety Standards and Environmental Norms.

- Checking the dispatch quality of finished ore, coordination for certification, physical verification for achieving A grade to live up to the customer expectations.

Qualification and Knowledge:

- B.Sc./M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech in Geology with 10+ years of experience.

- Hands on experience of SURPAC, Whittle and AutoCAD software.
