Head of Marketing - Funded Startup - Gurgaon


Role Description:

- We are building out a Marketing team for the very first time in our company's lifetime. The individual hired for this role will report directly to the CEO and will be expected to hire his/her other team members (content writers, graphic designers, ad managers, SEO specialists, and others).

- The focus for the candidate will be generating as many quality leads as cheaply as possible through a combination of creative marketing hacks + ads, and building brand equity through organic / ongoing activities.

- We're looking for someone that has built, scaled, and run a marketing team at a high-growth B2C company, preferably in tech. Past experience catering to Parents (e.g. at education startups) is a strong plus point.

Role Scope:

1. Online Advertising (lead generation): a. Social Media campaigns: Facebook/Insta/Google AdWords

b. Retargeting campaigns

c. Display Networks (Google, Taboola, Outbrain, etc.)

d. Special / one-off campaigns

2. Organic Marketing (brand building): a. Ongoing / daily Social Media posts

b. Special / one-off campaigns on Social Media

3. SEO :

a. Site Content Optimization

b. Social bookmarking submissions

c. Listing on local business directories

4. SMS Marketing, Email Marketing

5. Influencer Marketing (parent / mom influencers on Insta, YouTube, etc.)

6. Events - Contests / Competitions / Co-branding with other organizations 

7. PR / News Coverage 


8. Other - e.g. Newspaper Pamphlet Insertion

Strengths / Capabilities of ideal candidate:

- Ability to prioritize + multi-task across multiple workstreams

- Ability to set quantitative targets for himself/herself and the team across each marketing channel

- Ability to measure himself/herself and the team across each marketing channel

- Ability to hire talented / creative individuals onto the Marketing team

- Creativity, ability to think beyond what competitors and other ed-tech players are doing to introduce a competitive edge for the company

- Excellent communication skills - able to take complex information and succinctly and effectively

communicate both in verbal and written formats

Academic / Professional Background:

- Past experience working in leadership positions in marketing / growth teams of Product + B2C companies. High-tech and ed-tech are a plus.


- Tier 1 Colleges (IIT/IIM/BITS/St. Stephens/SRCC etc)
