Head - Logistic Co-ordinator - Port

We have an opening as Logistic Coordinator (Port) Head for a leading Company based out of India, having branches on Major Ports.

Below is the mentioned Job Description:

Job Purpose:

- To supervise the logistics requirements of the project at the port of discharge. To support the Customs Clearance function for the project with coordination between UK Procurement office and Logisitcs service provider with site office.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

- To have effective liaison with the UK procurement office for proper scheduling and coordination with the 3PL service provider for the arrangement of transport for the projects at the port of discharge.

- To receive import documentation and pass to the 3PL Service provider for the smooth clearance at the port of discharge.

- To remain updated for the dispatch of the goods from various locations to the port of discharge for the project.

- To raise alerts for incoming cargo to site in advance so as to have arrangements for the unloading/ storage/ erection of the same.

- To inform the costs for logistics spend for the project. Documentation receipt for the cleared goods and custody of the original documents

- To pass on the safe custody of the statutory documents for the imported documents to site coordinator for quick retrieval when needed.

- To fulfil and submit any returns for the same to local authorities or client as required.

Key Challenges:

- To remain updated with the incoming cargo for the project from all locations and arrange for documentation and customs clearances for loading onto the rail at Port of discharge.

- To do the resource planning at the Port and liaison with Customs / Port authorities and other agencies as required.

- Checking and approving of Import documentation for Customs Clearances at Disport

- Planning of Logistics for the dispatch onto rail to project site.

- To supervise and ensure delivery of the goods as per Projects Schedule and budget.

Recommendations to superior:

- Deviation of supplies w r t project schedule and additional resources required for maintaining schedule.

- Monitoring budgets for the logistics spends and issuing alerts for deviation

- Close teamwork with Procurement, Resource planning and Finance functions.

External Interactions:

- Freight Forwarders and Logistics service providers

- Port Authorities and Customs Authorities

- Warehousing and Equipment supply agency at Port of discharge

Skills & Knowledge:

Educational Qualifications & Certifications:

- Science graduate operational knowledge of business office software with additional qualification in Supply Chain function or Logistics function

Relevant (Functional/Level) & Total Years of Experience:

- Total Experience: 10 years

- Sound knowledge of loading / unloading and movement of goods by Road, Rail and Sea for Capital goods and equipment.

Functional Skills:

- Proficient in standard business office software

- Fluency in written and verbal French and English, Knowledge of Arabic language desirable

- Proven ability to think independently and handle logistics function for large scale projects through to completion

- Record of successfully collaborating with and influencing senior management and peers

- Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, analytical ability and professional demeanor

- Able to make effective presentations to diverse groups

- Able to perform financial calculations and create and manage budgets
