Head - IT Platform - Real Estate

About the Role : As the Head of Platform, the candidate will be responsible for setting up and managing the DevOps and cloud infrastructure teams, focusing on AWS services supporting our organization's IT operations. The primary responsibility will be to build a world-class Infrastructure team that will setup and maintain the AWS infrastructure, ensuring security, high availability, scalability, and performance. The candidate will report to the CTO, and lead the DevOps and Infrastructure Architects, DBAs, Infrastructure Engineers, and Observability Engineers to achieve the company's infrastructure goals, leveraging various AWS features and services.

Role and Responsibilities : The successful candidate will lead a team of individuals who will build, configure, and manage all the tooling and the cloud infrastructure for developing multiple cloud platforms and mobile apps using cutting edge technologies. The team will need to ensure a 99.99% uptime and setup processes to monitor the infrastructure 24x7

1. AWS Infrastructure Management:

- Deploy and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, leveraging services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, ECS, EKS and others.

- Exposure to MongoDB and PostgreSQL database systems.

- Experience in containers using AWS EKS or ECS for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications typically in SAAS applications.

- Implement and manage cloud services, optimizing for cost efficiency, high availability, and top-tier performance.

- Monitor and manage resources.

- Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities.

2. Infrastructure Security:

- Implement and maintain security best practices in AWS infrastructure, including IAM, encryption, access controls, and compliance with security standards.

- Ensure the security practices are periodically tested and updated as per the latest threat scenarios.

- Participate in security audits and risk assessments.

3. Performance Optimization:

- Continuously optimize AWS infrastructure for peak performance, using AWS CloudWatch and other monitoring tools.

- Resolve performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies, ensuring seamless operations.

4. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:

- Implement disaster recovery and backup plans for critical infrastructure components.

- Ensure business continuity by implementing redundancy and failover strategies using AWS features like Multi-AZ, Cross-Region Replication, and backup services.

5. Capacity Planning:

- Monitor AWS resource usage and support capacity scaling, utilizing AWS Auto Scaling and other relevant features.

- Proactively address scalability challenges to maintain optimal performance.

6. Documentation and Compliance:

- Maintain documentation of AWS infrastructure configurations and procedures.

- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, with AWS Config and AWS Security Hub.

7. Vendor and Stakeholder Communication:

- Collaborate with AWS support and vendors to resolve technical issues and optimize services.

- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders including customers to understand the challenges encountered in using the Cloud Platforms and solutions that meet performance expectations.

Relevant Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field

- At least 15+ years of proven experience in managing DevOps and Cloud infrastructure teams.

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification is a strong plus

- Proven experience in managing AWS infrastructure in a large-scale environment with a focus on performance optimization

- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Terraform, CloudFormation).

- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, is advantageous
