Head- IP Core & VAS Planning

Position Summary :

The role be a one of the anchor role in Data Services evolution and strategy and will be responsible for Planning, Engineering of IP Core Network elements, Architecture and associated IP Network elements for Wireless (CDMA/EVDO/2G/3G/4G/WiFi) & Wireline Broadband (FTTx/Copper) Networks, and design and Engineering support across multiple Business Units for Value Added Services platforms, New products and Solutions and their integration in the Network.

Principal Accountabilities :

- Planning, Engineering of IP Core Network Elements such as PDSN, SGSN, GGSN, EPC, WAG, WLC, BRAS, and related DCN elements etc and Architecture in line with the Data services, the growth trends and evolving business requirements.

- Planning, engineering of associated IP Network elements such as IP Transit Planning, DNS Systems, CGNAT, AAA Systems, Firewall systems, Diameter Signalling and Interfacing with other reverent Core elements in the Wireless & Wireline networks.

- Planning, engineering of Data Analytics Solutions such as DPI, etc to enable Network and Business Teams to understand the customer usage trends, needs and plan for required interventions from products, solutions and Technology / Network interventions.

- Planning, engineering for IPV6 Addressing scheme implementation along with dual stack for IPV4 across the Network and end customers in Wireless & Wireline Networks.

- Planning, engineering and architecture of Policy Control and Rating Systems (PCRF) in coordination with the business teams and their integration in the relevant Network elements.

- Constant assessment of Data services Traffic growth/utilisation trends and evolving requirements of customers and business teams across the services and plan & propose required network intervention for new technology / architecture introduction / Capacity growth in coordination with the Product & Business teams.

- Mobile Data Offload through Wi-Fi networks is going to be one of the key strategies for fthis year, need to coordinate with all the relevant stakeholders and plan the IP Core Network and associated systems in line with the business requirements.

- Undertake technology benchmarking for Data Services & IP Core Network Technology / Solutions by interacting with various vendors and solution providers and plan and propose the relevant interventions for transformation in coordination with Product & Business teams.

- IP Transit Planning, Data & Video Optimisation solutions, Peering / Caching / Content Delivery Networks for Opportunities to improve customer experience and also cost optimisation.

- Planning, engineering and Implementation of Enterprise & Mobility VAS Solutions & platforms (like LBS Services, Advanced Device Management Platforms, M2M, m-Health, m-Commerce, and other OTT applications.

- Integration of IP Core elements, associated systems, VAS platforms and services with all the relevant OSS / BSS Platforms and applications.

- Strong coordination with Network Operations and Performance & Quality teams to understand their needs and plan appropriately to ensure relevant KPI metric is complied with.

- To program manage the Technology & Network support to Mobility, Enterprise & OTT Product & Business teams for planning, engineering and deployment of value added services, new products and solutions.

- Provide strategic inputs to the Business teams on Data & VAS services to help formulate future strategies and implementation plans. Also contribute towards co-creating suitable business plans and product roadmap.

- To ensure that Product & Business teams are provided cost effective solutions without compromising the services levels and desired Product / Services & Solutions construct.

- Organize and drive New Product workshops and sessions with Business Teams wherein the New Product and Technology evolution/ roadmaps across vendor ecosystem and the industry can be communicated and discussed.

- Design and development of comprehensive RFPs for Technology & Network solutions for IP Core Network elements, architectures, VAS platforms, Products and Solutions and their detailed technical evaluation and support to the Commercial & Supply Chain Management teams for suitable selection of vendors.

- Finalizing Capex Proposals, ensuring approvals from all stakeholders in Business, Technology & Finance for IP Core Network elements, VAS platforms, Products and solutions.

- Team Management, Skill set development, etc

- Adhering to Regulatory guidelines on Data & VAS Services across Wireless & Wireline networks from Technology & Network perspective.

Critical Knowledge and Skill :

- Strong knowledge and experience in the areas of Planning, Engineering, Implementation and Operations Management of the Technology solutions and architectures in :

- Wireless IP Core Network elements such as PDSN, SGSN, GGSN, EPC, WLC, WAG, HA, etc.

- Associated IP Support systems such as DNS, CGNAT, AAA, Firewall solutions, IP Transit

- IPV4 & IPV6 Addressing schemes and their dual stack enablement across network and to the end customers.

- Integration with Intelligent Networks, Charging gateways.

- DIAMETER Protocol Dimensioning, engineering and implementation.

- Wireline Broadband IP Core elements such as BRAS, AAA, etc

- Should be well versed with data protocols and OSI model, etc

- Data & Video Optimisation Techniques, Tools and solutions

- Understanding of SIM, USIM, etc

- Knowledge and experience on Wi-Fi Networks and Mobile data off load network architectures.

- Good understanding of applicable standards, such as 3GPP2, 3GPP, ETSI, IEEE, 802.11 and emerging standards such as M2M, LBS, m-Commerce, etc.

- Should be well aware on Customer experience management framework for Data services.

- Up to date with internet service delivery models in both domestic and international environment, including peering, caching, content delivery models, benefiting both customer experience and cost reduction.

- Should have knowledge on Data Network Security architecture and solutions, Lawful interception, etc

- Good understanding of OSS/BSS Systems and Business processes along with Market dynamics to relate with the business requirements.

- Strong Fundamentals in SS7 - esp. ISUP, IS-41, GSM-MAP, INAP, CAMEL or WIN

- Networking: WAN/LAN management, administration. Firewall, CISCO Routers and Switches administration is desirable

- Database sizing, creation, management and performance tuning is desirable

- Knowledge of WAP, WML and WML Script and OS like Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows Xp, Open VMS, Sun Solaris, HP-Unix, and Linux

Qualification :

- Minimum 20+years in Telecom Industry across Technology & Networks Strategy, Planning/Design/Engineering, Implementation and Operations Management for Data & Voice Core Networks elements and architectures, Value Added Services, Products and Solutions in wireless & Wireline services.

- B-Tech/M-Tech in Electronics & Communications / Computer Engineering & Science / Electrical Engineering
