Head - Investment & Market Risk - Life Insurance

Responsible to drive and monitor the risk liability for the organization in the areas of Investment and Market risks by working closely with line managers to implement the risk management framework. Also responsible to constantly monitor and proactively decide on mitigation plans for any potential risks.

- Monitor Portfolio Risk & provide analysis and management of risk, portfolio valuation and monitoring earnings and risk metrics

- Regulatory compliance and reporting including relationship management with IRDAI. Oversee regulatory reporting & regulatory audits

- Support the formulation of a Risk Appetite Statement, with details on tolerance and limits for each Market and Investment risk category;

- Regularly provide inputs for enhancement of the Risk Management Framework for managing risks across the organization and ensure that all investment processes are fit for purpose;

- Ensure that the Risk Management Framework covers risk exposures and limit breaches along-with mitigating actions and change management norms specifically for Market and Investment Risks and;

- Work collaboratively with senior management for Investment and Market teams and credibly challenge their decisions and ensure that all policies of the Risk Management framework are met on a day to day basis;

- Establish & enforce prudent guidelines for investment risk management including updating Investment policy from time to time and develop policies on exposures and market risk;

- Develop guidelines and reporting structure on investment risk exposures and limit breaches in line with the regulatory guidelines;

- Establish sound market risk management principles, risk measurement, monitoring and management;

- Review and analyze interest rate risk using various models, including multi-scenario cash flow projection models that forecast cash flows of the liabilities and their supporting investments;

- Develop Asset liability management policies across the Company, covering liquidity risk & Interest rate risk;

- Aggregate and report cash flow models on both Assets and Liability side;Credit Risk

Qualification and experience:

- CA / Master of Business Administration or Equivalent Degree with 15+ years of experience in relevant field

- Deep understanding of the life insurance industry in India and internationally

- Understanding of Insurance investment regulations and Investment risk management practices

- Strong influencing, networking & advisory skills

- Analytical skills and process orientation

- Strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities

- Self-starter with strong self-motivation and a capacity to work in a newly established team

- Strong Presentation and communication skills
