Head, Government Liaison

Our Client is Rs 5.5K Crore Conglomerate with a current clutch of six companies. It has set itself a target of reaching a size of Rs 20K Crores by year 2020, achieving revenue of at least Rs 1 Crore per employee. Few of Client's strategies centre around organic growth of existing portfolio of businesses; some through planned & phased acquisitions. Government of India is embarking multiple projects like "Make in India", "Swachh Bharat", "Smart Cities", "Digital India", "Financial Inclusion", "Infrastructure" etc that provide large scale opportunities for Private Players. As a strategy, our Client desires to position itself strongly to leverage its Organizational strengths (including capabilities to sew and manage JVs) to drive revenues through Government Projects

Purpose of the Role consists in monitoring economic, political, regulatory, legal framework; gather & analyze information on changes in polices that interest AR Group across sectors; monitor G2G or other Protocols for opportunities that would interest the Client across sectors & across countries. In line with this purpose statement, the Professional is expected to undertake following strategic/operational/tactical roles

- Provide validated & reliable information on business opportunities triggered by investment by State or Central Government; identify and analyze market-sector opportunities

- Interact with State and Central Government Departments / Senior Officials for new initiatives for the company / sector

- Liaise with Government machinery and establish a good working relationship with the various departments and bureaucrats to speed up decisions /permissions affecting the company / sector; resolve issues / push for changes

- Identify, develop and maintain a network of qualified local contacts in Government, business links, leads and agents

- Provide market intelligence and sector overviews through surveys or discussions with experts; track & study target companies;

- Collate, analyze data for identifying business opportunities, make a business case, discuss and obtain buy-in of and facilitate first contact of Client's Promoters with decision-makers in Government

- Initiate processes for change in laws/ process/ regulations to enable industry

- Initiate and assist trade promotion activities in group events (exhibitions, seminars, conferences, business meetings)

- Serve as a Resource Person to increase broad cohesion for strategic plans

- Maintain Professional relationships with Government Agencies, Statutory Authorities etc

- The right candidate would be an MA (preferably Economics) + MBA; or a CA + (preferably) MBA; with 15-to-20 years of experience as a Trade and Investment Advisor or a Commercial Attach- in an Embassy, Consulate or Trade Association; recent 3-to-5 years in a Leadership role working with Board or Senior Management of atleast a Rs 5000 Crore Group

- The Professional's performance would be rated on number of year-on-year Government-centric business proposals consummated as per sectors targeted; average project size; potential revenue & profit as per growth plans
