Head - Formulation - Agro Chemicals

The position has global responsibility over a segment of formulations. In specific this sector will be dealing with fungicides and/or insecticide formulations developed for the global markets. About 25% of sales of approximately $4 billion are derived from the sector, namely about $1 billion. The sector head is not only responsible for the formulations in development but also for ongoing support of the formulations already sold.

1. At least 10 plus years of practical experience in Ag-Chem formulation.

2. Demonstrated record of achievement in formulation from prototype development to commercialization phases

3. Experience in transfer of products from lab to manufacturing scale

4. Experience working with interfaces such as Chemical, Biology/Agronomy, IP, Supply-Chain, Manufacturing, Registration departments through past roles

Key Responsibilities : 

- Lead and execute the sector's product development plan and priorities as delivered by the Head of Formulation Delivery

- Enhance the quality of the sector's formulations in terms of performance, differentiation, innovative standing

- Manage and develop a team including training, development, succession planning

- Enforce all laboratory safety, security and housekeeping policies and procedures

- Contribute to the company's intellectual property portfolio where possible

- Implement standard procedures and requirements to ensure proper experimental design is followed and research records are maintained

- Assist in troubleshooting production batches and where relevant introduce process improvements to improve quality and output

- Keep abreast of industry trends in materials and regulations, competitive information, and anticipate changes.

Career Prospects:

- The career prospects include positions in the Global Formulations & Delivery Technologies team; other positions in the IDR organization (IDR = Innovation, Development and Registration); and positions outside IDR, namely:

1. The Global Formulation & Delivery Technologies team: Possible roles are management of a different sector, management of Delivery Technologies (innovative formulations), management of a global lab (US, Brazil, China, India). And of course my position of global head of formulations delivery tech.

2. IDR: Various positions in innovation, external collaborations, registration.

3. Outside IDR: The position of sector head, formulation is a high-profile one in organisation with interfaces which include the countries, product strategy, product management, procurement, IP, supply chain and management. Depending on the individual's personality and interest there are a variety of growth opportunities in these and other organisation divisions.

Hierarchy: Reporting to head of global formulations and delivery tech who reports to head of IDR, who reports to the CEO of the company.
