Roles and Responsibility :

The head of Financial Planning and Analysis function at Client is one of the key roles within the finance function. The position heads the Financial Planning & Analysis function for Ingredients across geographies.

The individual will work closely with the CEO and BU Presidents and functional leaders to create budgets / forecasts and review with Board / SVP. This executive will Drive and Facilitate annual corporate strategic planning and budgeting across the group. He/she will work with cross functional teams (including consultants) to identify and analyse key levers and improvement areas relevant for respective businesses.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS :

Reports to : Executive Director-Finance

Team : 5-6 members

Other key relationships : Leadership Team, Board, Business Heads

Desired Candidate : Candidate must have core FP&A experience. Pharma and Chemical industry experience is mandatory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Drive and Facilitate annual corporate strategic planning and budgeting.

- Design, Develop templates, processes for tracking and monitoring of businesses and functions.

- Drive action plan / initiatives for ensuring working capital is within budget,

- Lead the budgeting and forecasting exercise for specific business units. Work with CEO and BU Presidents and functional leaders to create budgets / forecasts and review with Board / SVP.

- Lead the governance process (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reviews) with Board / CEOs to drive performance in the areas of business, quality, supply chain and operations.

- Working with cross functional teams (including consultants) to identify and analyse key levers and improvement areas relevant for respective businesses.

- Regularly measure business performance. Work with CEOs / business heads / functional leaders to improve operating performance / operating cash flows and reduce cost / working capital. This will include:

- Prepare income statement and capital employed dashboards to aid decision making. This will include deliverables with a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual frequency.

- Highlight deviations from budget / forecasts and discuss action plans with businesses

- Support investor relations / finance team with MD&A (management discussion and analysis) for various stakeholders including Board / External Investors.

- Support CEOs and Presidents by leading / supporting special projects / initiatives including:

- Analyse organic and inorganic growth (buy side) / divestment (sell side) opportunities. For inorganic growth or divestment opportunities, this will involve working on the teaser, information memorandum, valuation, due diligence and negotiation.

- Perform feasibility studies of new projects/ business models. This will include developing business plans, market entry strategy, product launch strategy etc. while working closely with Business Presidents and Corporate Office.

- Perform industry benchmarking based largely on secondary research.

- Manage MIS for Promoters and Board.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS WILL INCLUDE :

- On time budget closures

- On time performance reviews

- Successful special / strategic initiatives

- Deviation from budgeted working capital

- EBITDA impact from identified business / functional initiatives

IDEAL EXPERIENCE :

- CA 13+ years of experiences in financial planning / corporate strategy role

- A qualified Chartered Accountant with relevant experience in financial planning and strategy.

- Pharmaceutical / Chemical experience

- Experience of working in Pharmaceutical/ Chemical or related sector is preferred.

- Experience in a multi geography context

- Experience of working in an organization that spans multiple locations and ideally multiple countries

- Experience of working in a matrix organization

- Experience of working in a matrix environment and or ability to interact with multiple stakeholders is a value add.

- Proactively partner with CEO and business heads to create and execute a business strategy that achieves the organization's business and financial goals.

- Develop a strong understanding of the business, understand implications of the business dynamics on financials, providing inputs on capital allocation to optimize ROI;

- Advise senior management on the financial implications and risks related to key issues and strategic decisions, setting up appropriate risk management framework

- Support on organic and inorganic growth opportunities.

Commercial Orientation :

- Drive all the strategic aspects of financial planning & analysis through structured thinking and by applying necessary business frameworks inkling Excel based financial modeling / analysis.

- Look beyond basic metrics to think strategically when making commercial decisions. Evaluate the wider commercial impact of decisions beyond the short-term. Clearly articulate multiple data points into dashboards to aid decision making

- Providing a high level of thought leadership and analytical insights in areas of fund raising, equity investments, investment philosophy, strategy, M&A

- Delegate roles thoughtfully to free self to work at a more strategic level.

- Collaborate with each employee to establish clear, challenging performance goals and metrics for the year.

- Design a performance management process to monitor projects and deliver results that exceed expectations.

- Periodically review team progress against plans, focuses attention beyond the project to the full year or more.

- Collaborate and openly debates with the team to manage projects, solve problems, discuss challenging issues, or learn more about critical issues as a group.
