Head of Finance - Internet / Start-up / E-Commerce / Technology

Reporting directly to the CEO / Co-founder and administratively to the Board and will be responsible for the overall financial management, business analysis and reporting of In Control, ensuring on-going viability and a secure financial future in line with the organisation's status, mission and values.

You will be a qualified Chartered Accountant with a keen commercial sense. You will provide financial advice and information to the Chief Executive, the Co-Founder, Board and the senior team and develop and maintain financial and investment strategies. You will have substantial experience / awareness of finance regulations, taxation, financial audit and key strategic finance reporting.

You will be responsible for the preparation of management and annual accounts, business analysis and management report information - maintaining close links and a strong working relationship with key Internal & External stakeholders to ensure appropriate and timely provision of management information and close management of individual budgets.

This role will also be accountable for management of the annual audit process, risk assessment and preparation and overview of all contracts for business partnerships.

You will be a proactive team player who can demonstrate initiative with excellent organisational, team management and communication skills.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Finance and Accounts

- To provide an accurate and timely financial service including setting and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, cash flow analysis, management and financial accounts and advice and support to inform decision making at all levels

- To ensure that the Chief Executive / Co-founder is appraised of key financial issues that need to be discussed with the Board to enable them to fully understand the financial position of the company

To review and ensure appropriate overall performance reporting to the CEO / Co-founder and the Board

To support the chief executive / co-founder and senior team to develop a medium & long-term financial plan

- To be responsible for all statutory reporting, compliance & annual accounts

- To work with the office team to develop finance policies and procedures and ensure that these are being consistently followed - including customer and supplier contracts, purchase orders, credit control, and ensuring timely invoicing by suppliers

- To manage the annual audit process in conjunction with the appointed auditors to ensure statutory accounts are produced within the required deadlines

- To ensure that budgets and management accounts accurately reflect the business activity, that accruals and other adjustments are being made correctly, that variances from budget and other issues are investigated and resolved

2. Risk Assessment

To be responsible and report on the overall business risk assessment and management process of the organisation, ensuring with the CEO / Co-founder, that the Board adequately assess and document risks faced by the company

3. Budgeting/Forecasting

Assist the CEO / Co-founder with the preparation of the detailed annual

Budget and forecasts

4. Payroll

- Be responsible for all of the outputs of the payroll function with a view to putting in place the necessary controls and checks that ensures all employees are paid accurately and on time

- Review and authorise the monthly payroll and put a system in place so that various managers, who should be independent of finance, review and process electronic payments to employees

- Ensure that the payroll team reconcile the payroll and finance systems and investigate and report any differences

- Work with the Head of HR to ensure that the establishment plan and the starters/leavers processes are taut and stand up to scrutiny from internal/external audit

5. Systems

- Ensure the robustness of all finance systems taking into account any required enhancements and upgrades required

- Development of the existing finance system to empower managers to exercise financial control over their areas of the business

- Review the financial management needs of the organisation and propose new systems and processes to support these needs where appropriate
