Head - Finance & Accounts - NGO

Job Purpose :

As a member of the senior leadership management team, will participate in evolving the strategic plans of the organization and guiding it's implementation. Drive the full suite of financial compliance & controllership and commercial activities and support the management to achieve its financial targets and organizational goals. The key mandate would be to provide leadership to the Finance function.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the Finance, Accounts, Internal Audit, Taxation and Revenue / Spend Cycle Management functions of the organization with the objective of contributing to it's financial and operational stability and health. It is critical that the organization's policies and statutory guidelines are clearly articulated and diligently followed.

- Provide leadership and direction to the Finance and Accounting function of the organization and proactively position one's function as an effective and supportive internal service provider and act as a prime contact between all internal departments and functions. It's important that here is demonstrated consistency of transparency and ethics while interacting and engaging with both internal stakeholders as well as external agencies.

- Provide leadership to accounting support staff to enable the preparation of accurate financial and management accounting information, ensuring compliance with local and statutory requirements and adherence to all timelines and official schedules.

- Interacting with Statutory & Internal Auditors and ensuring timely completion of the Audit Process satisfactorily.

- Introduce / Implement Accounting systems, ensuring that they meet with the overall organization's objectives, standards and requirements. Develop manuals and policies incorporating best Finance & Accounting practices, which would be reviewed and updated to ensure a top end benchmark in the industry.

- Would manage and monitor cash flow controls. Lead all Financial Planning, Accounting, Budgeting and Forecasting activities and assist in cost reduction initiatives

- Responsible for all tax matters and regulations that may affect the organization's operations.

- Ensure efficiency of the A/R system and that collection and its distribution is according to policy and procedure. Oversees members fee and collection procedures.

- Identify opportunities and implement process improvements. Be sure all payments are correct according to laid down policies and right of authority approval.

- Analyse the organization's financial results and report on significant variances against approved budget. Investigate and recommend corrective action.

- Institute and maintain proper accounting control over asset acquisition and disposal, cash and bank accounts, payables and payroll accounting and safeguard against misappropriation of organization's .
