Head - Engineering - D2C eCommerce

Job Description:

As the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for building and leading a strong and agile engineering team focused on creating innovative next-generation e-commerce products.

What you will do:

- Formulating and implementing a robust Product Development strategy to ensure focus, timely product shipment, and achieving overall strategic dominance.

- Planning technical strategy, product roadmaps, resources requirement, and technology cost/budget.

- Owning technical and architectural decision-making, defining strong engineering processes, and ensuring timely product delivery.

- Leading engagements with external technology teams across platforms, clients, and partners, providing real-time decision-making on feasibility and requirements.

- Ensuring excellent uptime for architecture, database, platform, and front-end applications, aiming for faster response time and 24/7 availability.

- Delivering an excellent user experience for users in India and global cities, ensuring a frictionless shopping experience to improve customer loyalty, conversion rate, and average basket size.

- Providing leadership and direction to direct reports and small agile teams across web development, backend services development, and multiple languages.

- Overseeing ongoing training, career development, and performance management of the engineering team.

- Closely and constantly engaging with the leadership team to understand the vision and ensuring the strategic evolution of back-end architecture, code-base, and product design.

- Collaborating in developing technology business plans and budgets supporting short-term and long-term growth and business objectives.

What you need to have:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering leadership roles.

- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex projects.

- A passion for staying ahead of industry trends.

- Proven experience in working in a highly collaborative, dynamic environment.

- Expertise in API integrations and DevOps.

- Experience leading API integrations with E-commerce platforms/marketplaces like Amazon, Walmart, Flipkart, and platforms like Shopify, Magento, etc.

- Previous experience in eCommerce, big data, and data science is an added advantage.

- Strong communication and convincing skills.

- Ability to connect with client brands, effectively communicating our tech stack, and showcasing the innovation happening at the backend.
