JOB DESCRIPTION

Community Awareness & Engagement Head

- The Community Awareness &Engagement Head is a newly instituted position that will be responsible for building awareness, partnership management, volunteer mobilization, community engagement and leading networking initiatives for the Foundation Palliative Care & Training Centre (FOUNDATION) primarily in and around Pune city.

- The position will report to the Medical Director of FOUNDATION and will work closely with the medical and admin teams at the Centre as well as the palliative care partnership team and other support teams at Foundation and allied teams where needed within Foundation Ltd. In addition, the position will closely collaborate with current and potential partners in but not restricted to the local area to deliver on a range of responsibilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Supervise and lead Community Outreach: Spread awareness about the Centre, maximize local partnerships and message the Centre's mission. Attend and represent the Centre at community partnership meetings to enhance understanding of the communities we serve, leverage networking opportunities, and promote the Centre among relevant groups so as to increase in-patient admissions at the Centre and grow the patient base for OPDs and homecare

- Healthcare Provider Outreach: Initiate and cultivate relationships and partnerships with health care providers, healthcare organizations/systems, healthcare-related businesses and professional medical organizations. Manage existing palliative care OPDs and support in opening new OPDs

- Development of new partnerships: Identify opportunities for collaborations and referrals; engage with potential partners to begin a relationship; and develop a protocol for the continuation of the partnership, including managing the hand-off to assigned staff, if applicable. This includes vetting and managing linkage agreements and sharing data with high-level partners.

- Volunteer Recruitment & Management: Identify, recruit, cultivate, train and manage local volunteers for FOUNDATION

- Plan & facilitate capacity building of staff: Lead in identifying staff and building their capacity to effectively represent the Centre in external forums and conferences

- Training support: Collaborate with current partners for curating training programmesat the Centre and support in identifying and building a pipeline of trainers and partner organizations that will help to further the training strategy for the Centre

- Palliative Care network management: Manage relationships with people/organizations who want to partner with the Centre for programming, presentations, event requests including conferences at the local and national level like IAPCON

- Advocacy &PR: Lead and participate in local and regional advocacy activities for palliative care as advised by the Medical Director and Communications team, including liaising with media and journalists

- Plan and facilitate awareness for recruitment: Develop relationships and implement volunteer and staff recruitment strategies (example: awareness and sensitization sessions at nursing colleges)

- Event planning & support: Collaborate with the Events team at HO and Centre to support community initiatives, external events and FOUNDATION events that are related to the role

- Communications collaterals support: In collaboration with the Communications team, support with ideas, context, and content for the creation and use of collateral required for the role

- Budget management: In collaboration with the CFO and Centre's Finance team, manage all aspects of the Outreach budget

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

- Bachelor's degree/PG with a minimum of 6-7 years experience in community outreach/engagement and partnership development

- Experience with project and partnership management, volunteer recruitment and management and partnership development skills required.

- Prior experience working in a voluntary health agency helpful especially in the area of Palliative Care

- Willingness to travel

- Previous experience working with children and their families with chronic health conditions.

- Previous experience working with healthcare providers and professional medical organizations.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Outstanding interpersonal, networking, and negotiation skills.

- Proven track record of success meeting and exceeding financial and mission goals.

- Ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers.

- Knowledge of public relations and communications.

- Knowledge of public health and health promotion.

- Embraces change and promotes a culture grounded in adaptability.

- Bilingual skills (Marathi/Hindi) are a plus.
