Head/Chief - Data Science/Scientist - Payments

Founded in 2018, this payments company offers merchants a single interface for all UPI apps. It is enabling merchants to start accepting digital payments for the first time each month and giving them access to working capital. This rapidly growing and extremely well-funded start-up is looking for a Chief Data Scientist / Head of Data Science to head the data science vertical.

Responsibilities:

- Be responsible for the creation of data sciences capabilities by envisioning and executing strategies and design innovative ways to use the existing and rich data to answer business problems.

- Analyse big data (structured and unstructured) and understand trends to provide actionable insights that impact the business bottom line.

- Be proactive and entrepreneurial in identifying new problems that can be solved through data.

- Use data for effective customer segmentation.

- Build automated data dashboards and visualizations to deliver business insights .

- Be the face for data science internally and externally including investors and form a third pillar along with tech and product teams.

- Provide mentorship.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Experienced technology leader with 10-20 years of experience (with at least 10 yrs in data science).

- Bachelor's degree in an analytical field such as statistics, economics, computer science or engineering. MBA degree is a plus.

- Previous exposure to financial services or merchant analytics is a plus, but not required.

- A passion for analytics, using data to inform decision-making and the ability to tell stories using data.

- Active experience in customer segmentation.

- Experience of working in consumer tech/e-commerce companies.

- Excellent in stakeholder management.

- Excellent in logical reasoning, problem solving & business insights.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and communicate data to senior management.
