One of our VC funded client is looking for head category management role based at bangalore.
Job Description :
- Cross-functional role leading a category team responsible for planning and delivering on revenue, working with digital marketing / offline channel teams, product and innovation teams, city ops and digital product teams
- Understanding consumer behaviour, customer feedback, market trends, competition etc. to identify and plan growth opportunities on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Work with internal teams or third party agencies to generate actionable consumer feedback and insights
- Lead primary and secondary research as well as run consumer panels
- Continuously track and benchmark industry and competition
- Monitoring competition for benchmarking prices, product portfolio, distribution etc. via owned or 3rd party agencies and taking actionable decisions basis these.
- Understanding larger industry trends and generating annual reports
Lead the thinking on managing product lifecycle, defining the portfolio, new product development and pricing :
- Understand key drivers in each category and drive portfolio rationalization
- Work with product development and innovation teams to evolve existing products as well as drive innovation and new product development
- Develop the pricing logic for each category factoring in competition, gross margins and other conversion led objectives
- Identifying opportunities to expand to new categories
- Creating solutions to drive repeat share, customer LTV, online conversion rates etc.
- Understand consumer behaviour, site metrics, and customer feedback to drive cross-functional initiatives such as easy reordering, subscription models, faster delivery timelines, cross-selling, bundling, driving trials/sampling etc.
- Working with other internal teams on delivery, customer experience, production planning etc. to execute the same
Work with the digital and offline marketing teams on new customer acquisition as well as CRM flows :
- Driving product / category discovery, messaging etc. working with marketing teams. Plan and execute on monthly and quarterly plans using marketing levers to drive growth
- Visualize and build the required analytics dashboards and insight tools (working with the engineering teams)
Desired Candidate :
- Seasoned category lead with an FMCG background and experience in building and running a portfolio / business
- MBA with overall 5 plus years of experience. eCommerce experience is a big plus
- Expertise in building, mentoring & grooming teams
- Ability to understand & appreciate the operational challenges of the business
- Willingness to work under demanding and highly performance driven work environment
Ability to work with a cross-functional team across marketing, brand, product development, digital product, technology and operations
