General Manager Learning & Development

- The GM of Learning and Development will work closely with all levels of the organization to define the immediate and long term strategies that support both the domestic and global business objectives.

- From technical training to professional development activities, this position will be responsible for incorporating key principles of adult education to effectively design and implement consistent training programs and materials aligning with the organizational vision and core values.

- Additionally, this position will develop, direct and implement global learning and development initiatives as the organization continues to grow in the domestic and international markets.

Essential Duties: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

1. Develop and deliver to support all training and development.

2. Plan, direct, and coordinate learning objectives and instructional strategies; including developing the best methodologies for training delivery (i.e. web-based, classroom, etc.).

3. Responsible for the development and implementation of a corporate university. Manage the integration, implementation and operation of the company’s learning management systems to create a central repository for all training and development data, and capture data on an individual basis to identify specific strengths and needs for individuals.

4. Create a training and development strategy, vision and action plan to implement dynamic learning systems contributing to the success of the organization.

5. Develop all training and development programs by establishing standardized methods and procedures for delivery, evaluation, measurement and reporting.

6. Support succession planning initiatives by developing and maintaining career development programs and provide a comprehensive curriculum of behavioral training, tools and resources for individual contributors and supervisors.

7. Responsible for maintaining coordination of training programs with succession management and leadership development programs; responsible for oversight of the succession management program.

8. Establish a competencies model that details the core values of the business, provides a foundation for the career development program and becomes the common language linking the performance management, succession management and leadership development programs.

9. Provide oversight on the mandated compliance training programs to ensure that the programs are developed in coordination with established standards and are properly tracked within employee profiles.

10. Work with department heads to identify specific training needs within each department and facility. Design and implement effective training options to close department and remote workforce gaps. Evaluate and monitor the development and effectiveness of these programs.

11. Identify current and future training client needs. Design and implement effective training programs, aids and materials utilizing knowledge of methods in classroom training, e-learning, on-the-job training, and self-study.

12. Develop standardized adult learning principles and programs for targeted audiences.

13. Select and monitor internal and external trainers and vendors to deliver consistent training programs and services.

14. Provide guidance regarding training and development practices, policies, and procedures to department heads.

15. Develop, maintain and distribute status learning and development reports as needed.

16. Ensure on-going research and development initiatives to ensure company programs meet or exceed contemporary industry training standards and delivery innovations.

17. Act as primary liaison with academia and professional organizations that validate, accredit and certify company education and training programs as needed.

18. Establish effective method of tracking Associate training and course offerings

19. Consult with and advise clients on strategies to develop and evaluate various training interventions.

20. Manages fiscal aspects of training including ROI of programs in meeting or exceeding budget standards. Measures, documents and reports on ROI assessments on learning initiatives.

21. Other duties may be assigned.

Education Requirements: To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, an individual must have successfully completed the following requirements.

- Bachelors degree, preferably in Business, Organizational/HR Development or related field

- Preferred: MBA or Masters in Human Resources, Learning / Organizational Development or similar degree from Top B Schools.

Experience Requirements: To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, an individual must have a progressive development through the following experiential requirements.

- Min. 10 years experience identifying, designing, and implementing training programs and supporting the learning and development function the director level or similar senior level position.

- Min. 12 years experience within the Learning and Organizational Development

- Min. 10 years experience within management, operations support or in a supervisory position outside the L&D field.
