You will be a leader with a strong vision for the department and will promote the best organizational patterns and practices. You will be able to tackle high-level challenges and balance quality software with speed. RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategy: - You will play a lead role tasked with the strategic planning, development, management, execution and implementation of site/software projects, inclusive of the day-to-day project management, scope management, issue and risk management, as well as regular status reporting. You will establish the technical vision and oversee the strategic deployment of departmental resources leading to optimal resource allocation. You will be responsible for the overall system development life-cycle. Collaboration and Support: - You will work closely on creating optimal User Experience through design, development and deployment of scalable technologies that will lead to increased customer satisfaction. You will also ensure that systems meet overall business requirements and standards and provide regular reports on status of site/software development, operations, quality and system performance to Management. Supervisory/Leadership Role: - You will play a leadership role in the engineering department where you will seek excellence in all engineering disciplines inclusive of data processing, quality assurance, application development, analytics, machine learning, algorithms, and data warehousing. - You will oversee the day-to-day activities of the engineering teams as well as the management and execution of site/software development projects against delivery commitments and project plans. You will also be in charge of the management of the department's staffing, resources, and mentoring, and maintaining a best-in-class engineering team. You will mentor, provide technical guidance and direction to your team, as well as function as a hands-on resource. You will constantly promote growth of the teams professional skills. Knowledge: - You will stay abreast of leading and cutting-edge technologies and industry best practices and have a profound understanding of new and relevant technologies for the purpose of realizing efficiency and ensure implementation of agile processes that support site/software development processes. EXPERIENCE &amp; QUALIFICATIONS : - A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any other relevant field. An equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable for this position. 10+ years of working experience in a senior frontend or backend development position, preferably working as Senior Frontend Developer or a Lead Backend Developer with vast experience in software engineering, site/software development and experience working with numerous software-industry business models inclusive of subscription, ecommerce, support and fulfillment. A demonstrated experience in the management of a frontend or backend team through cross-functional projects and recording project progress will be preferred. - A proven track-record of consistent project delivery, and designing and developing complex, interactive consumer sites/software is a MUST. Vast experience building consumer and developer facing products and services as well as the deployment of APIs and in agile development practices and architectural knowledge of web-based and backend technologies. SKILLS : - Exceptionally good communication skills where the clarity of your communication to junior engineering personnel will determine the success or failure of sites/software within the business and effectiveness and efficiency with which cross-functional duties are executed. Communication skills will also be necessary in the drafting of progress reports for management and investors, which must be clear, concise, comprehensive, and easy-to-understand.- - Technologically adept and demonstrate outstanding computer skills. with an innate understanding of data modeling and SQL for scalability and performance as well as a strong JavaScript, XHTML, CSS, and MVC framework. - Expertise in full stack architecture technologies and be highly familiar with Javascript, Python, RDBMs, and HTML5 as well as knowledge of a variety of programming languages such as Java, Objective C, C, and C++. - Possess certain personal attributes such as being consumer and result-oriented, a creative and strategic thinker, work comfortably in a highly collaborative and constantly evolving environment. - Have a keen eye for detail, have a constant and insatiable appetite for knowledge, and have an ability to remain calm and composed in times of uncertainty and stress, inspiring the same in peers and juniors. - Demonstrate outstanding leadership skills, having an ability to move a cross-functional group in a unified direction and with a common vision while being able to inspire confidence in others, making it easy for them to trust in your insights, directives, and judgments. - Thorough understanding of AWS at a solution architect level - Beanstalk, EC2, s3, SES, Snapshot, Autoscale, Boto3, AMI, Cloudwatch, AmazonMQ, Athena, Lex, understanding of concepts of distributed systems, challenges of scaling them, having worked and maintained large scale microservices that can handle atleast a 100,000 users and about a million request response. Related GCP experience is also acceptable. - Solution Architecting experience such as APIs, services, realtime-ness, Learning modules - Good understanding of ML algorithms, understanding of handling unstructured data is needed. Exposure to AI concepts and data science - Devops - Uptime, serviceability, Phabricator, Site reliability, Automation, - - Message queueing like RabbitMQ, HA-proxy, Kafka, Apache Jmeter, NewRelic etc., - Handling of Big-data, understands clustering, Hadoop - Experience building and scaling Enterprise level apps - solid understanding of IT security, SSO, TDD, Authentication, VPC, on premise setups, close integrations, change management, release management - Product building experience, Code Quality standardizing, QA, corner cases handling, testing etc., - Good understanding of OOPs, JS, Python, DJango, NodeJS, VueJS, V8, Relational DBMS like MongoDB. - Entrepreneurial, understands business, user/customer centricity
