Analyst, Global Accounting

The Analyst, Global Accounting reports to the Manager, Global Accounting and is responsible for performing month-end financial close responsibilities that include recording journal entries, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, validating balance sheet, P&L, and Cash Flows for the assigned regions, and researching and documenting variance explanations.

The position works in close interaction with the Consolidation and Reporting team and will assist in that area as needed. The position is also resposible for providing information associated with special requests and working on ad-hoc projects.

Job Overview

- The Analyst, Global Accounting reports to the Manager, Global Accounting and is responsible for performing month-end financial close responsibilities that include recording journal entries, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, validating balance sheet, P&L, and Cash Flows for the assigned regions, and researching and documenting variance explanations.

- The position works in close interaction with the Consolidation and Reporting team and will assist in that area as needed. The position is also resposible for providing information associated with special requests and working on ad-hoc projects.

Essential Functions and Duties:

- Prepare analysis and reporting around monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flows

- Analyze account activity, reconcile, and record activity related to equity accounts, IBNR accounts, benefits, and insurance, among other areas of the balance sheet

- Record misc. journal entries submitted by G&A, business services journal entries and tax provision and pension/retiree health reserve service costs

- Perform IBNR analysis and update the medical/dental liability reserve analysis

- Complete quarterly Canada Statistics filings

- Prepare Group Health and Welfare Plan financial statements, coordinate and manage audit process, and complete filing

- Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting analyses

- Validate the financial data between SAP and Hyperion and resolve validations

- Complete Cash Flow statements and provide explanation of significant fluctuations

- Prepare, review and submit Hyperion financial information to Consolidation & Reporting i.e., coordinating and reviewing monthly, mid-year and year-end supplemental schedules required by Management

- Heavy interaction with GBS, Treasury, International regions, Tax, and related professional at all levels

- Assist in compiling the annual Canada Financial Statements

- Conduct and prepare presentation for balance sheet reviews on an annual basis

- Work on ad-hoc projects and business initiatives

Requirements/Qualifications Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Masters preferred

- CPA preferred

- 2 to 4 years of experience in financial analysis or accounting

- Big 4 public accounting experience

- Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization, and interpersonal skills

- Excellent verbal/written communications skills

Skills:

- Ability to multi-task and rotate responsibilities

- Has intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office

- Applies knowledge and skills to a variety of routine activities

- Identifies and solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses them using routine procedures

- Prioritizes and organizes own work to meet deadlines

- Works well with others and is team oriented
