Genesys - LiDAR Project Manager

The successful candidate accomplishes project objectives by planning and evaluating Imagery and Lidar mapping related projects activities.

- The Project Manager (PM) will report to the GM of Operations, and add to our high-performing Project Management team based in Stillwater, MN.

- The PM will plan, execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines / budgets and ensure that all components of their projects are completed within the defined scope and service agreements. In addition, they will coordinate the efforts of internal team members and external partners and may manage production staff.

- The PM is expected to be confident, assertive and professional, should have extensive knowledge in all aspects of photogrammetry, Aerial and Mobile LiDAR, imagery acquisition and related software packages.

PM duties and responsibilities include :

- Achieve operational objectives by creating project planning activities; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; and resolving problems.

- Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing a budget; scheduling expenditures; completing audits; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.

- Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external stakeholders to reassess and amend the scope of work requirements, budget and timeline.

- Analyze risk, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibilities for initiating mitigating action.

- Interact with internal colleagues, clients, vendors, sub-contractors, and be responsible for the internal production staff

- Develop / document estimating procedures

- Produce detailed cost model for each production type

- Provide suggestions to Management on how to price

- Once developed, train Tech Lead on what inputs are required

- Train Management and Sales team on use/inputs

- Produce marketing material content

- Direct Technical Lead to produce Demo data sets

- train Management and sales team on use

Core Skills :

Key qualifications to fit the position include :

- Solid background in Geomatics principals including GPS and conventional surveying, mapping projections and datums, remote sensing and image processing.

- LiDAR Mapping, GIS and CAD software knowledge including Microstation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, TerraSolid.

- Programming skills is an asset.

- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

- Aptitude for problem solving and making responsible decisions with minimal supervision.

Job Skills :

- Successfully manage multiple complex projects

- Manage and assign production tasks according to staff abilities

- Lead staff technical training

- Prepare acquisition plans based on project needs and accuracies

- Prepare cost estimates and build schedules in response to requests

- Assemble production teams and manage project performance, keeping tabs on overruns, multipliers, schedules and deliverables

- Efficiently learn company software for tracking hours and budgets

- Build client confidence and relationships with key subcontractors

- Understand data deliverables, specifically all common mapping formats for CAD, Imagery and Lidar

- Conduct project team meetings and correct lessons learned

- Monitor quality control procedures and assign appropriate QA/QC staff

- Understand multiple production software packages - examples include Terrasolid, Trimble Applications Master, Cardinal Systems VR, TopoDOT, Bentley Microstation, AutoCAD Map 3D, PLS-CADD, etc.

- Engage in employee training, team building

Education and Experience :

- Graduate / in Geography, engineering or related fields.

- 13+ years of Imagery and Lidar production, or related years experience successfully applying project management controls through all phases of project life cycle

- Demonstrated leadership of multidiscipline, high-performance work teams/groups

- Outstanding presentation, communication, and facilitation skills

- Effective at working directly with senior leadership as well as production staff

- Experience with digitizing or extraction of electric utility network features is preferred

- Pole Loading Analysis experience is preferred

- Certified Photogrammetrist is preferred, but not required
