General Manager - Wireless Engineering - Telecom

Roles and Responsibilities :

- RF planning across the technologies (WiMAX, LTE, ISM band based access technologies, etc.) being deployed in the network

- Manage the planning of the nominal radio coverage across the country.

- Monitor and track the detailed RF design carried out by the regional teams to ensure conformance with the nominal rollout plan.

- Monitor network performance and configuration to ensure conformance with formulated performance strategy and KPIs.

- Advise on strategies for capacity roll-out and undertake timely RF Capacity augmentation

- Manage evaluation and validation of newer wireless platforms & technologies

- Generate, analyze & validate various performance reports

- Manage RF related project activities across the circles

- RF Network Optimization in order to minimize interference & improve network performance

- Identify critical network performance issues and undertake corrective measures

- Develop appropriate technology roadmap/s so that network is built / upgraded in order to support ever evolving, bandwidth hungry network applications

- Coordinate the evaluation of local and global telecommunications trends and developments and implement strategies to counter/minimise possible impact on the architecture and integrity of the access network.

- Extend necessary help to network implementation team during the course of network roll-out.

- Preparation of Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and project specific Business Cases (BCs)

- Establish and maintain relationship with key internal and external stakeholders.

- Keeping abreast of the global and local best practice related to RF planning and optimization.

- Identify required resources, personnel, funding, etc. to achieve functional objectives

- Manage day to day activities of the unit and ensure that goals and objectives of the unit are aligned with overall objectives of the organization

- Assist in identifying specialist tools, equipments and solutions for radio network coverage enhancements.

- Ensure that RF performance of the network is in line with customer's expectations

- Prepare and submit periodic activity reports to the management.

- Extend necessary support to Regulatory and BU teams on issues related to wireless access

Educational Qualification :

BE / B.Tech. / M.Tech (Electronics & Telecommunications).

Postgraduate/ professional qualification in a related field will be an added advantage.

Work Experience :

- A minimum of 16 years of experience in the field of planning and optimization of GSM, UMTS and LTE mobile networks using wide range of tools and software packages and working experience in many network improvement projects.

- Experience in building ISM band (2.4 GHz / 5.8 GHz) based P2P/PMP networks will have an added advantage.

- Core competency in RF planning and optimization based on GSM / CDMA / UMTS / LTE / WiMAX / Wi-Fi / ISM band PMP technologies in order to assure best quality of voice and broadband services to Enterprise / Retail customers.

- Similar competence in Microwave Network Planning (using SDH/PDH Digital Microwave Radios), frequency planning, system performance analysis, reports analysis and network optimization will be an added advantage

- Deeper understanding of various mobile access technologies coupled with an excellent analytical skill would auger well for the proposed role.

- The experience of operating and maintaining radio access networks (RAN) will have an added advantage.

- Analyzing network KPIs to find worst performing cells and initiate appropriate actions to correct the same.

- Experience in undertaking network expansion projects in order to cater to expected traffic growth based on marketing inputs

- Generating network performance reports to show the impact of optimization activities on the network.

- A progressive manager with leadership & team management aptitude involving recruitment, induction, training, driving, growth planning, development, motivation and mentoring of a technical team.

- Adequate fluency in conducting CW Test and RF Model Tuning

- Good knowledge of IP networks

- Excellent written and spoken communication
