GM R&D
- Lead the R&D Organization to meet the organization's goals of sustained success in high-end Electronic, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical & Software Systems.
- This role reports directly to the Managing Director, and will be part of the Managing Committee steering the organization's growth.
Job Functions:
- Manage all aspects of Product Development, including new product design, product life cycle costing, design for Quality, design for manufacturability and adapting stream-lined processes.
- Plan, execute and improve the R&D organization, including project & task planning, resource allocation and performance reviews.
- Plan, hire, train, manage and help the growth of R&D engineers.
- Product development process optimization by effectively utilizing both internal and external resources.
- Effective coordination with external resources to augment/fill-in resource gaps in both short & long-term.
- Identifying & executing best strategy& best-fit solutions to develop products quickly and efficiently, while ensuring high quality and optimum cost.
- Develop& utilize R&D platforms to increase re-usability of modules, and bring down the time & cost for new product development.
- Keep up-to-date on emerging technologies& market updates, and train the R&D organization on relevant skills.
- Work closely with Marketing & Sales team for understanding & developing market relevant products and systems.
- Understand customer requirements through direct & in-direct feedback, both internal & external, and incorporate lessons learnt into the R&D processes.
- Drive adaptation & adherence of best practices, policies & processes for R&D, Purchasing, Manufacturing & Overall Quality.
- Define, own & implement all documentation requirements, including BOM's, software, drawings, and all other design elements.
- Implement systematic &standard-oriented processes for documentation release for design release packages, process requirements, quality & test documentation and technical clarifications to responsible departments
- Preparing both operating and capital budgets for design and development function in line within set directives.
- Ensuring implantation of ISO 9001 and adapting other certifications as required per various international standards.
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor/PG Degree in Electronics or Equivalent.
- Minimum Experience of 10 years, with a minimum of 5 years in heading Design and Development in Electronics Product Manufacturing Organization(s).
- In-depth understanding of entire Electronic Product Development Cycle, including Embedded Firmware, hardware, Power Electronics, Front-end & Application Software Development, Mechanical & PCB design.
- Should have direct Embedded Design Experience of minimum of 5 Years.
- Should have overseen/closely interacted with Application Software Developers, Power Supply developers & Mechanical Developers.
- Should be able to develop/utilize networks to utilize external resources to augment internal R&D resources.
