We are currently seeking a highly experienced and skilled legal professional to join our team as the General Manager - Legal (Corporate Counsel). This leadership role is based in Mumbai and will play a crucial part in shaping and guiding our legal strategy.
Responsibilities:
Legal Strategy and Compliance:- Develop and implement comprehensive legal strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian laws and regulations, with a preference for candidates with exposure to US contract negotiation and laws.
Contract Management:- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of a wide range of agreements, ensuring legal and business interests are protected.
- Escalate to deviations and get the approval from the respective stakeholders within the timelines.
Corporate Governance:- Provide guidance on corporate governance matters and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
Risk Management:- Identify and assess legal risks associated with business operations and propose mitigation strategies.
Investor Relations:- If experienced, actively engage in investor relations activities, including communication with investors and relevant stakeholders.
Litigation Management:- Manage and oversee any legal disputes or litigation matters involving the organization.
Policy Development:- Contribute to the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation.
Collaboration and Training:- Collaborate with Cross functional teams to drive contract closure in a time bound manner and provide legal guidance and training on legal matters to internal stakeholders.
Team Leadership:- Lead and mentor the legal team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in contract management in India & US.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a legal department.
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
- Exposure to Investor Relations will be considered a significant advantage.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- LLB/LLM degree from a recognized institution.
- Company secretarial qualification and exposure will be added advantage
