General Manager - Land Acquisition

Location : Gurgaon / Anywhere in South India

Job Purpose:

- The role would support the Wind Project Development team in land procurement for the current and upcoming wind power projects. The role will work closely with the PD Lead to ensure the timely procurement of land, focus on the future land acquisitions for the development pipeline.

- The various types of land to be procured would be private, forest, revenue etc. The role as an individual contributor would also be responsible for standardizing/improving the land procurement process and achieving land procurement targets within tight timelines and strict cost targets dictated by fast moving business demands.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Results:

- Working with the Project Development Lead to achieve timely procurement of land for Wind power projects.

- Identify key issues in current/future land development pipeline for Wind division and work with finance, EPC, legal, commercial etc. teams to resolve them in a timely fashion.

- Contribute to overall land procurement strategy using a data driven approach.

- Contributing to, process improvement in land procurement for Wind division and drive cost reduction opportunities in terms of time and cashflow.

Process and Stakeholder Management:

- Coordination across finance/legal/contracts/EPC/project development teams

- Flagging off risks where applicable so pre-emptive actions can be taken by the concerned teams

- Analysing the current land procurement process for Wind and work on improvement plan

Profile & Eligible Criteria:

- 10+ years hands-on land procurement experience in Wind energy.

- Knowledge of land procurement process and related legal concepts in Wind.

- Extensive experience in land procurement for Wind Power and strong knowledge of land related permits/approvals, due diligence.

- Strong knowledge for State, MNRE and other guidelines for site selection for Wind

- Expertise and knowledge in all regulatory and statutory compliances, state policies, liaison with state nodal agencies

- Sound knowledge of land laws and also must have a knowledge of conversion and mutation procedures.

- Should have strong network of land aggregators/developers on for land procurement

- Demonstrated experience of closing land procurement as an individual contributor across private, forest and revenue lands.

- Analytical and able to manage stakeholders from multiple departments.

- Should have good local language skills.

- Must be ready to travel extensively at short notice across India.
