Job Description for General Manager - Human Resource
Job location: Mumbai
Key purpose of the job: Implementing HR Policies and ensuring proper recruitment process in defined turnaround time, adhering to the manpower plan and assigned budget for the assigned cluster of regions.
Strategic :
- Prepare and implement the HR strategy and plan for the assigned BU/ Entity .
- Define the appropriate strategy for sourcing the candidates for the various positions at levels within the scope of the role in the assigned region.
- Liaise with the Business Head and Functional Heads to understand their manpower requirements on a regular basis and ensure adherence to overall manpower budget.
- Ensure Quality and Timely Recruitment within defined TAT in a cost effective manner.
- Recommend relevant policy/process changes to the Corporate HR team, as required, based on region specific nuances/employee feedback and/or HR practices at competitor organizations.
Operational :
Recruitment & On boarding of Talent
- Work closely with the line managers to understand manpower requirements on a regular basis and provide proactive resourcing solutions.
- Ensure that all recruitments are in adherence to the manpower budget and plans.
- Ensure sourcing of candidates based on the manpower requirements using multiple and appropriate channels of recruitment.
- Conduct first level HR interviews for positions as per the scope defined in the recruitment policy.
- Regularly monitor recruitment costs.
- Ensure adherence to the Recruitment policy and procedures and guide the regional team in doing the same.
- Ensure Reference checks, pre-employment medical checks are all completed prior to hiring.
- Identify appropriate recruitment consultants as per the position to be recruited and other, background screening agencies and job portals to procure high quality sourcing capabilities & cost effective services.
- Build and maintain a strong network in the market and with placement consultants to ensure timely delivery of relevant profiles.
- Make salary fitments to candidates based on guidelines and defined framework.
- Ensure proper database of potential candidates is maintained to act as an active pipeline of candidates.
- Ensure timely on boarding of all new employees in the region as per the defined Employee On-boarding process.
Performance Management System
- Ensure confirmation process of employees on probation is completed on time as per the defined confirmation policy.
- Facilitate Goal setting process for the region in line with the Regional Business Plan.
- Facilitate timely closure of performance appraisals in the Region in line with the overall guidelines of the company.
- Conduct regular sessions for line managers to build their capability in conducting fair and transparent performance reviews.
- Make recommendations for annual compensation review as well as promotions based on the guidelines of the company, in consultation with the Business Head and Functional Heads.
Talent Engagement & Retention
- Identify critical talent in the region as per the Talent Management Framework of the company, propose relevant interventions to ring fence and retain key talent.
- Ensure early sensing of critical talent attrition through regular engagement so that proactive steps can be taken to retain them.
- Ensure deployment of the Employee Engagement Survey as per process. Analyse results, draw insights and prepare action plans to address critical areas.
- Regularly monitor engagement related actions and take necessary steps to ensure adherence to plans.
- Ensure that the annual communication calendar is in place and is executed as per plan.
- Set up listening mechanisms to regularly capture employee queries, grievances and ensure that they are addressed in a timely manner.
- Support in organizing events of the company as per the events calendar and within approved budgets.
- 10-12 years of experience with relevant experience in business partner role/ generalist role- Identify learning needs of functions/employees based on the strategic business priorities for the region as well as a robust identification of learning needs of employees.
Learning & Development
- Identify learning needs of functions/employees based on the strategic business priorities for the region as well as a robust identification of learning needs of employees.
- Work closely with the Talent Management Team to create a Learning Plan for the region and support in implementation of the same.
Implementation of HR policies
- Ensure all HR policies of the company are implemented in the Region.
- Address cases of indiscipline and initiate disciplinary actions in consultation with the Employee Relations team, where required.
- Prepare and submit regular MIS reports to the Business Head and Head - Human Resources as required.

Education & Experience Requirement:
- MBA HR/ M.A./ M.Sc. in HR
- 10-12 years of experience with relevant experience in business partner role/ generalist role
