Essential Responsibilities :

- The Manufacturing Engineering Manager for Weld shop be responsible for Weld Shop process design, selection and procurement of equipment, installation / commissioning of the Weld-shop for full Locomotive and its sub-assemblies within budget and timelines.

- This position will be directly reporting into the Plant Manager and dotted line to Tech Transfer to Technology Transfer Manager.

- Responsibility will include working closely with Global / Local Technology Transfer teams of GE Transportation. This job requires working very closely with various cross functional team in a boundary less environment.

- This Position also requires building & leading a strong team and drive larger organization initiative including Environment Health & Safety, quality, cost optimization & productivity initiatives.

This job will require :

- Project management & communication of status, business issues, and significant developments to larger team/Leadership.

- Lead special projects as directed by work requests from Engineering or Project Management, which may cover technical advances in execution / capability studies

- Effectively integrate new concepts that can aid in the assignment of both equipment hardware and software as related to computer build technology, advanced process capability and material handling concepts

- Working very closely with Manufacturing & Quality teams on shop floor during prove out & regular production phase.

- Lead the first product manufactured and hand over the process to Production after stabilization.

- Define Takt time, no of workstations and cells.

- Define resources requirement for specified takt time - equipment and machinery list, manpower calculation with skill and semiskilled bifurcation and no of jigs and fixtures etc. To implement engineering changes and Spec updation and focus on Regulatory requirements on EHS

- To lead the process improvement during serial production.

- To provide training to production team at the start of the project.

- To support the production department for continuous improvements.

Qualifications/Requirements :

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical, or Materials Science.

- At least 10+ years of related experience in Weld shop preferably railway under-frame or platform manufacturing or large sized fabrication industry. Experience of Setting-up of a Green/Brown field Weld-shop is desirable.

- Qualified as IWE / CWI

Knowledge of the following welding codes :

- ASME Section V & IX

- AWS D1.1, D1.2, D15.1 & D1.6

- EN Welding & NDT Qualifications

- Should possess leading edge knowledge on Welding technology and Safety, Quality process establishment

- Experience in working with carbon, low, high alloy and stainless steels, nickel and copper based alloys, as well as dissimilar metal welding.

- Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English, with experience of working in global environment. Local Language Fluency will be an added advantage.

- Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with diverse team members.

- Must be self-directed, highly detail oriented, organized, and flexible
