GauGau - Head - Raw Milk Procurement

Responsibilities :

Responsible for establishment of procurement operation and infrastructure, for monitoring efficient operations including driving CSR activities, extension services and animal feed sales.

Key Deliverables:

1. Identification of area

a. Right geography to start procurement operation based on various criteria.

b. Right milk shed areas in the concerned geography.

c. Establishment of routes as per various criteria.

d. Villages to start procurement.

e. Location for establishment of Chilling Centers (CCs) and Bulk Milk Coolers (BMC).

2. Chilling infrastructure

a. Identification of land and getting the legal processes done for setting up chilling infrastructure.

b. Supplier identification, price negotiation, commissioning of chilling infrastructure.

3. Starting sourcing operation

a. Draft the sourcing strategy

b. Recruit qualified manpower

c. Getting the budget approved to start operation

4. Village level operation

a. Organize village level meeting of farmers and make them understand the policies of the company

b. Identify right candidate and infrastructure to start collection center in the village

c. Initiate extension service in villages along with third party partners

d. Monitor the activities and milk quality/quantity at collection centers

5. Managing operations at chilling centers:

a. Monitor the operations at all CCs, including collaboration with maintenance and quality department.

b. Ensure milk procurement as per budgeted quantities across months, by effectively managing lean and flush periods.

c. Build goodwill with farmers and collection center in-charge through CSR activities like farmer meetings, veterinary camps, etc

d. Monitor payments to vendors and farmers through proper documentation with KYC and resolving any issues by coordinating with procurement accounts team.

6. Expansion, optimization and monitoring processes:

a. Monitoring route vehicle timings and ensure optimization of routes to control transport cost.

b. Managing establishments of new chilling centers at potential operating areas.

c. Ensuring chilling centers are compliant with safety and statutory norms.

d. Establishing necessary controls and random audits to inspect and minimize any malpractices across chilling centres.

7. General management

a. Increase productivity and capacity utilization continuously across chilling centres.

b. Plan, implement, monitor extension services to scale up procurement faster.

c. Prepare annual budget and analyzing monthly performance against budget.

d. Analyze and report performance across CCs on procurement, operational costs, and sales on a weekly basis.

e. Manage the procurement team across division through continuous development and performance feedback.

Requirements :

Candidate must have the following:

a. Experience in procurement of more than 10 lakh liters/day.

b. From reputed companies with proven track record.

c. Experience of not less than 15 years

d. Graduation and post-graduation from reputed institutions (NDRI, IRMA, IIMs, ISB).

e. Must be a thinker. Should come up with ideas, brain storm and come to a conclusion fast.

f. Must be a good communicator. Candidate has to build, nurture and grow the team.

g. Must be a rock star in 'EXECUTION'. Without this, nothing will ever work.

h. Must be impeccable in terms of integrity. We can't teach integrity to anybody.

i. Must be able to work independently in an unstructured environment.
