Research Data Analytics (RDA) team provides high quality quantitative research and analysis service to Gartner's clients, research teams and analysts.

About this role :

Gartner's FLORS Practice (Finance, Legal, Operations, and Risk & Strategy) is currently seeking a Senior Quantitative Specialist for its Quantitative Insight team. The team leverages proprietary quantitative data and frameworks to offer original, actionable insights to key business problems facing senior executives across industries.

The role provides excellent exposure to a full range of topics related to the management of strategy, procurement, finance quality, and operations functions, as well as the opportunity to apply and further develop financial and statistical concepts. To that end, we are looking for creative, analytically strong, articulate and self-motivated individuals who would like to develop a strong knowledge of the terrain along with building consultative problem-solving skills.

What you'll do :

- The Senior Quantitative Specialist is responsible for developing, supporting, and executing strategic research that is fueled by intensive data collection, in depth research and quantitative analysis. Researchers engage in all aspects of insight generation, including data collection through primary and secondary research, designing surveys, benchmarking client performance; conducting descriptive and prescriptive data analysis, and using frameworks such as hypothesis testing and root cause analysis to generate insights that fuel executive decision-making.

Overall responsibilities :

- Analyzing large, complex, disparate data sets to identify actionable insights for senior executives

- Assisting with large-scale data collection efforts through administration of multi-national panel surveys

- Building benchmark and other standardized data reports for members with simple and insightful graphics

- Employing analytical tools, such as root cause analysis, to identify the drivers of members' business problems and to create hypotheses regarding solutions

- Conducting basic descriptive analysis as well as robust inferential analyses, including correlation, factor analysis, and multiple regression.

- Communicating and presenting analytical insights to internal stakeholders

- Partnering with internal stakeholders to use proprietary data for additional new products and services

- Present strategic research and benchmarking analysis findings to clients

- Effectively using data and quantitative analysis methods to generate insights for clients. Specifically:

- Translate research hypotheses into logical, clearly defined and efficiently constructed quantitative, measurable variables

- Ensure survey questions are designed in a manner logical path to proving research hypotheses

- Use survey mechanics that generate required sample size and other critical sample/data needs to ensure a high quality sample;

- Conduct data analyses to clearly prove/disprove research hypotheses;

- Test results to assess the reliability and validity of data findings;

- Prepare and present data findings in an impactful way that demonstrates confidence in proving research hypotheses and supporting Gartner client priorities.

Upholding data quality standards in all deliverables through :

- Editing of research deliverables to ensure proper and effective use of data findings;

- Creation of survey and graphic templates to facilitate simple survey design and use by researchers and analysts;

- Updating and maintaining data assets to ensure that all researchers and analysts have easy access to accurate and timely data to support their work;

- Identifying external data sources that can be leveraged in research and advisory work and create methods to make them accessible;

- Collaborating with researchers and analysts to identify areas where data/quantitative analysis can play a role in strengthening Gartner's research;

- Active attendance at key research milestones to address data related issues

- Partnering with other research teams to deliver analyses for assigned research projects through:

- Leadership in conveying the goals and needs of the specific quant needs of research and advisory team to the quant COE;

- Creation and management of the project plan to deliver the quant in the stated time frames and to the stated level of quality;

- Consistent engagement with the COE to develop findings and address routine workflow issues;

- Quality check of outputs before sharing with research and advisory team and addressing any related risks or concerns as they are identified;

- Creation of outputs to be shared across the Gartner research and advisory community.

What you'll need :

- Masters in disciplines with a strong quantitative component, including Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Social Science, Psychology, Economics, Econometrics, Commerce

- 37 to 60 months of total experience, with expertise in data analysis, quantitative research, analytics or benchmarking

- Ability and desire to work extensively in data analysis and quantitative research

- Exceptional record of academic achievements

- Proficiency with basic statistical concepts

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power Point

- Original/creative thinking and superior problem solving abilities

- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Detail-oriented and strong commitment to high quality results to serve needs of clients and internal partners

- Self-motivated/self-starter approach to projects

Good to have skills :

- Knowledge of Statistical programming software packages such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, or R.

- Knowledge of data programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or MATLAB would be an added advantage.
