If you like working with a generous, supportive, high-performing team, Gartner is where you want to be.

About the Role:

Our mission is to drive increasing business impact by building world class data science practices.

Manage and mentor, and help develop junior data science staff.

- Qualitative and quantitative market research is required in order to create valuable user experiences, and having great people skills is crucial. Your ability to apply Lean Product Principles to the data science process will both ensure proper ROI and fast iteration of the solution. Just as important is the intuitive ability to move towards the important vs. the interesting. This becomes especially relevant as you lead teams to develop the product opportunities we uncover. Having a strong goal-orientation (vs. a task-orientation) and an anchoring on the client experience and business problems will help you navigate the decisions needed to build great products and deliver strong business results.

What youll do:

- Given the broad areas that we are responsible for, you will likely to start with a domain but may get involved in other domains. A few potential projects you may get involved:

- Applying Natural Language Processing and predictive modeling to understand client's search query intent so we can offer relevant content

- Using machine learning to develop self-correcting algorithms to improve recommendation in homepage feed and emails

- Leverage internal and external big data to understand client's company level priorities, competitive landscape and deliver targeted support

- Using predictive modeling to develop forward-looking projections of client engagement

- Using statistical analysis to properly measure existing algorithms

- Conceptually mapping cause and effect relationships to statistical models to develop a robust understanding of business drivers

What you' ll need:

- Leverage data science algorithms to deliver client value and ultimately improve retention of clients

- Drive client value through innovating and tailoring algorithms

- Leverage externally available data science tools/algorithms to deliver value to clients

- Develop models to help predict retention outcomes and identify levers to improve outcomes

- Manage and mentor and help develop junior staff (both data science and general business analyst)

Who you are:

The ideal candidate will have

- 10 years hands-on experience building predictive models, recommendation systems, or other machine learning/artificial intelligence applications to drive business impact

- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (math, computer science, engineering, etc.) required; Master and PHD a strong plus.

- Demonstrated ability to translate quantitative analysis into actionable business strategies.

- Working experience in some of the following data science domains: Machine Learning and Predictive modeling

- Text mining and Natural Language Processing

- Recommendation systems

- Search engine and Information Retrieval

- Data analytics with multi-dimensional data

- Strong working knowledge of Lean product principles, Software development lifecycle, IT and data science/machine learning topics

- Practical, intuitive problem solver with a demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into actionable data science tasks and translate quantitative analysis into actionable business strategies

- Connections to the recommendations and / or information retrieval academic community

- Experience and proficiency with various programming languages (e.g., Python), machine learning tools (e.g., scikit-learn), statistical packages (e.g., Scipy), SQL/relational databases (e.g., Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, graph database), Linux and shell scripting

- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of business, data science and technical stakeholders

- Ability to work in a culture that thrives on feedback and seeks opportunities to stretch outside comfort zone

- Bias for action and completion.
