Responsibilities in the Role
As Functional Head of DCL
Production
Manage the existing DCL functions within bank - Clearing and Reconciliation - circa 40 FTE
Deliver a secure production platform where operational losses and incidents are minimized
Build and maintain strong working relationships with ITEC / PRD and ITEC / DPR to deliver the production platform
Ensure the KPIs and KRIs are in place to monitor performance and risk
Provide transparency to senior management, onshore stakeholders and the relevant Front Office management around the performance and risk in DCL GSC
Understand, educate team on internal control and compliance processes along with and legal and regulatory requirements. Ensure adherence.
Strategy / Transformation:
Deliver new offshoring in a timely manner and without operational incidents / risks
Develop and drive a culture of (incremental) innovation to continuously improve the operational platform
Promote participation and active contribution global projects
Develop the DCL function from a function that supports onshore production to a co-responsible team that leads production and actively contributes (and leads) to DCL initiatives.
Governance & Management:
Be a member of the OPER DCL ExCo and contribute to the DCL strategy formation and implementation
Ensure the correct governance is in place with onshore counterparts
Listen to onshore counterparts and work with them in a co-responsible manner to deliver the expected level of service and, where possible, exceed the expected level.
Ensure local governance is in place and functioning
Identify and implement the correct management structure to deliver production and projects. Review on regular basis to ensure effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to defined operating practices and governance across OPER in letter and spirit in line with the policies and practices of the local organization as well as global OPER requirements.
Across all Responsibilities:
Change Management
Promote a culture of constant monitoring and evaluation; questioning the status-quo and client focus/centricity across the perimeter. Contribute to innovation initiatives in the BL.
Collate and analyze metrics. Utilize metrics to influence efficiencies and improvement efforts across relevant functions / areas under the incumbents span of control, driving an environment of continuous improvement in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Contribute to OPER global strategic transformation programs adopting the co-collaborative / co-ownership model to apply the best solutions locally and globally
Seek and collate feedback from employees on OPER GSC roadmap: Identify the opportunities for contribution to the transformation programs in the perimeter and convert them into actionable initiatives
People Management
Ensure the appropriate break down of GSC and BL strategic objectives into operational objectives and ensure sound appropriation and integration across the team.
Monitor span of control within the incumbents respective areas aligning with global practices
In conjunction with HR ensure execution of the talent acquisition programs as per annual plans for the perimeter to facilitate the achievement of both short term goals and long term strategic objectives.
Ensure team's performance capability and competency level for optimal performance. Contribute to the training strategy for the perimeter and ensure sound implementation. Mentor and coach direct reports and assist direct reports in managing their teams.
Build a performance oriented culture within the perimeter; ensuring the correct message on the significance of merit and contribution is sent across during Reward and Recognition exercises.
Ensure a strong succession process within the perimeter. Build capability of direct reports to address current as well as future business plans of the Perimeter and also the BL; ensuring sound mapping of individual skill levels, abilities & aspirations against identified needs.
Showcase the Talent in your perimeter across the BL as well across GSC to ensure appropriate positioning and contribute to Talent sourcing and Diversity objectives / targets of GSC.
Focus on methods to increase retention, increase levels of engagement within the perimeter. Focus on attrition analysis for the perimeter and in conjunction with the HRBP find solutions and improvements to keep attrition low or in line with organizational retention target. Drive a culture of floor walks and town-halls, "fun @ work" initiatives etc.
Disseminate critical information, provide periodic up-dates and deliver various organizational communication to the teams in the perimeter as well as address any concerns or grievances.
Operational Risk & CI Practices
Ensure permanent supervision controls are followed and completed with the requisite care and attention with anomalies raised, actions created and tracked.
Report / escalate errors and incidents. Ensure they captured in the relevant Operational Risk tools with actions plans which are tracked and delivered with lessons learned used for educating the teams.
Participate in the RCSA program
Review and challenge the resilience model of the respective functions. Ensure resilience is tested regularly and take action when weaknesses identified
Monitor the progress of continuous improvement initiatives and take appropriate corrective actions when required.
Establish a strong managerial practices that utilise and apply the CI tool kit - including but not limited to Performance Dialogue, Go & See, Sit-ins, etc
Establish a strong lean management culture following the CI guidelines through all levels under the incumbents span of control

Qualifications
Strong Academic background in Accounting Finance or MBA.
Experience in the IB environment and knowledge of Securities is extremely critical.
Experience and strong knowledge of managing a function composed of diverse transversal functions in a matrix organizational structure
Successful customer service track record and the ability to foster a service oriented work environment

Strong stake-holder engagement and influencing skills with the ability to influence people and navigate a matrix organization

Specific expertise in managing large processing / operations teams in the IB domain and in managing a on-shore / off-shore operating model.
