Functional Head - Research & Development - Concrete/Cement/Building Materials Firm

Our client is India's leading building materials organisation. They are looking for a Functional Head for Concrete to join their R&D setup in Mumbai.

Reporting into the Head R&D and managing a direct team of 3 professionals ( HOD Civil, HOD Rheology and HOD Concrete Mix Design) and indirect team of 20 professionals, you will be responsible for:

- Organising local materials and trials, optimising and developing new products, studying literature, gathering latest developments and trends in Concrete and other products, attending conferences, predicting future market needs and customer issues to identify need for developing new products and collecting the information about market requirements for new types of products

- Sourcing or developing and then using required software for modelling concrete mixes and their rheology in order optimise concrete properties and cost.

- Identifying artificial aggregates and Construction & Demolition Waste available and guiding the team in developing new products based on the above-mentioned wastes and also analysing cost benefit of C&D waste

- Maximising the use of Supplementary Cementitious Materials, at optimum cost by Identifying the geographical locations of SCMs and guiding the team to evaluate performance of SCMs from various sources and conduct tests to conform to standards and then analysing cost benefit of SCMs from different sources.

- Providing world-class technical services to our businesses by maintaining regular contact with the internal stakeholders and also upgrading the concrete laboratory equipment as required

Ideally you are PhD with 16+ years of experience and comes from a background of being a Civil/Chemical/Material Engineer with Building Materials specialisation. You should have good interpersonal and communication skills. You should have demonstrated excellent track record in your last roles and should be ready for the next challenging role in a large organisation.
