Job Summary:

- Global Core Operations, Trade Ops and Settlements, part of Global Trade Services at Franklin Templeton Investments is responsible for providing accurate and & timely Trading and Portfolio Management transaction and process support at Fund and Account level. Within Global Trade Services, Global Core Operations along with Middle Office Client Services and Alternative Strategies teams operates as an integrated global entity with a framework designed around a robust and mature - pass-the-book- philosophy facilitating effective and controlled operations, client service and support across the globe.

- Global Core Operations team consist of approximately 60 people across 3 locations in Asia and Europe covering Equity and Fixed Income Trade Operations, Trade Settlements, Separately Managed Account Support and Risk Management.

- The Director of Global Trade Services will be responsible for all business activities performed by the Global Core Operation's teams. The position will be responsible for staff in our global locations and ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with corporate and regulatory policies and FTI/FTS priorities. He or she will provides leadership in all aspects of the business including risk management, operational and system strategy, system enhancement prioritization, Front Office Operational Service delivery, business partner/vendor/peer relationship management, resource alignment, cost control, project management, personal development, disaster recovery. The Director of Core Operations will also be responsible with internal/external client relationship, industry engagement and vendor management for the region.

Job Responsibilities:

Directing Global Core Operations

- Oversight and head of GTS Core Operations staff located in multiple locations a global basis which is responsible for processing over 1 million transactions per annum and support multiple product types including Equity, Fixed Income

- Global Core Operations teams which include Global 24/5 support for Trade Capture, Trade Confirmation, Trade Enrichment, Trade Messaging and Trade Fails, and Global Operational Support team.

- Oversee Certification of all audit requirements and compliance with any FTS or FRI compliance policies, for example, SAS70, AAF16, internal and external audits

- Identify and assess business Risks and ensure the that appropriate internal controls are in place in order to address them in a cost efficient and efficient manor

- Create an environment of that continuous improvement that reduces risk, increases efficiency and creates a standardize Global Process.

- Determine, implement and monitor the effectiveness of critical business unit measures and metrics.

- Determine, implement and monitor service standards with business partners both internal and externally

- Consistently review existing department policy and procedures and enhance to support new products, regulatory, internal procedures and industry changes

- Represent GTS Core Operations in various forums and provide actions, decisions/ directions which impact the department

- Manage and support product changes and regulatory complexities

- Manage regional relationships with internal and external clients as well as stakeholders

- Determine approach to support complex markets, processes and products in conjunction with other business partners

- Lead functional team from multiple functions to ensure the end to end client experience is understood and considered in all strategic decision making

- Establish good working relationships with other FTS and FTI areas

Provide Planning and Direction to Global Strategic Services

- Develop and set plans, goals, and objectives for GTS that are aligned with the company's goals and initiatives

- Preparation of material for FTS and GTS strategic business planning sessions

- Create and execute a global relationship strategy for clients

- Create strategic direction for the client servicing function including leadership on technology, vendor and staff investment.

- Participate in Vendor advisory boards to help shape vendor priorities and integrate with GTS plan

- Represent FTS in Industry working groups (ISITC, AMF, ISDA) as a member and a leader shaping the industry

- Lead, champion and participate in organization wide business unit projects

- Develop strategy to minimize risk, improve controls, focus on continuous improvements, site integration and employee engagement

- Participate in risk planning with Quality Assurance Risk and Control

- Identify new business opportunities (for example, enhancing client support by increasing support for FRG, or enhancing process by using new systems like Market Document)

- Use metrics, complexity factors and volume forecasts to determine future plans and initiatives for GTS

Leadership and Development

- Provide direction and leadership for GTS Global Core Operations teams in Europe / Asia

- Ensure Global cohesive Management team environment

- Ensure succession planning is in place in all Global locations

- Use trends, activity levels and forecasts to determine staffing requirements for global locations

- Provide ongoing coaching and development to global staff, ensuring they have the necessary training to meet performance objectives and provide excellent customer service

- Evaluate and determine employee engagement needs at Global locations

- Provide guidance and direction to managers to ensure the department meets its operating objectives in a timely and successful manner

- Develop and establish goals and objectives for staff in line with FTI's annual commitment pack

- Oversee employee Performance Management Program (PMP) and carry out formal performance reviews of management team and provide career feedback where appropriate

- Establish good working relationship with other FTS and FRI areas

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

- 10 years progressive operational experience in securities industry with a minimum of five years experience in a global management position

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

- Recognized industry qualification

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

- MBA a plus

- Six Sigma green belt or similar experience

- Leadership position in industry working group

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

- Investment Management knowledge with Portfolio/Trade Operations Focus

- Ability to work through issues while remaining compliant with internal policies

- Strong presentation skills

- Strong operational knowledge of Equity, FX, Fixed Income securities markets

- Knowledge of OTC and ETD products

- Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written) with both internal and external counterparties

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Strong customer focus both internal and external

- Strong relationship management skills

- Strong securities services market knowledge

- Strong risk management skills

- Experience with Industry software and knowledge of the vendors that service it

- Strong negotiation skills and ability to resolve complex issues

- Knowledge of business desktop applications (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, Project, Excel)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
