Financial Controller - IT

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Financial Controller to join our start-up team. As the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing all financial aspects of our organization. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to ensure accurate and timely financial information and compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, accounting, and business administration, with proven experience in start-up environments.

Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Analysis:

- Develop, implement, and monitor financial planning and analysis processes to support business decisions.

- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.

- Identify and analyze financial trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Financial Operations:

- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.

- Establish and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.

- Manage banking relationships and oversee treasury functions.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and tax filings.

- Prepare and submit financial statements and reports to stakeholders, investors, and regulatory agencies.

- Coordinate and manage external audits and reviews.

Strategic Financial Management:

- Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to executive management and board of directors.

- Evaluate and advise on financial implications of business strategies and initiatives.

- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.

Risk Management:

- Assess and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls and risk management practices.

- Monitor and evaluate financial performance against strategic objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

- Implement and maintain appropriate insurance coverage.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.

- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role in a start-up or high-growth environment.

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.

- Proficiency in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

- Experience with financial software and ERP systems; familiarity with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.

- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
