Financial Controller - CIMA/ACCA/ACA - IT

There is an urgent requirement with a leading company in Marketing and communications.

Purpose of the role :

Company is looking for a highly talented and motivated Financial Controller to initially business partner with the Global head of Infrastructure services (within IT) business to control costs and provide business insight. Within 6-12 months - it is expected that the Financial Controller will take full responsibility for the full global IT portfolio and become a business partner for the CIO. The portfolio of clients and services is diverse within Organisation and the role holder will need to develop an understanding of the business and how technology will support. The role will need to support the creation of business cases and work with the IT team to assess whether projects will provide value for money.

They will be responsible for all accounting and commercial activity for their area along with forecasting and budgeting. The individual will be responsible for leading and developing a finance team both within the UK and in our shared service centre in India. The individual will need to be a confident self-starter able to use their initiative to influence business decision-making and also proactively drive process improvements.

Specific area of responsibility

Commercial Responsibilities

- Ability/confidence to provide appropriate degree of challenge to operational management to ensure sound decision-making from a financial perspective. Oversee completion of extensive Financial Modelling / commercial analysis to support

- Effective business partnering with the IT Leadership team and being an integral part of the decision-making process, which may include supplier meetings.

- Utilizing systems, commercial and financial acumen to identify areas of improvement within the business.

Financial Reporting and Responsibilities

- Involvement in the completion of the Divisional Budgets / Monthly and quarterly forecasts

- Overseeing the completion of monthly reporting and the provision of variance analysis and insightful commentary

- Full balance sheet ownership and identification and management of any potential risks

- Identification of process improvements to support the management team and improve the delivery of information across the division

- Completion of monthly headcount and non-headcount reporting

Business Challenge

- Provide financial governance to all the key delivery Projects being undertaken within the business.

- Identify opportunities for the enhancement of profitability through an intimate knowledge of business operations and understanding of profit and cost drivers

- Support the business by providing high quality, relevant Management information, requiring detailed understanding of the reporting environments on site, and benchmarking to best practice

Team Leadership

- Managing a Cochin based team.

- Driving a high performing team to ensure reporting and commercial objectives are achieved and that the business receives appropriate level of financial support and challenge

- Team development to include setting objectives and goals for the team and identifying development areas.

Essential Skills

- A qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) - minimum of 5-7 years post qualification experience

- Demonstrable experience of commercial business partnering and supporting decision making.

- Experience of business partnering with IT functions
