Job Description The Finance Business Partner serves as the primary Finance Partner to our global engineering R&amp;D business providing instrumental, strategic decision support and guidance. Responsible for supporting key financial targets inclusive of the business plan, budget, forecasts, performance reports and providing guidance on achieving budgetary targets. Drives large scale process and operational improvements develop strategic plans in alignment with the global strategic imperatives for Engineering R&amp;D through the work of Analyst(s) support. The role reports to Director Finance, Global Engineering &amp; R&amp;D. Duties &amp; Responsibilities -&nbsp; - Strategic leader and partner to the Vice President of Global Engineering &amp; Research and Development; Provides financial guidance to support business unit objectives. - Supports development of business unit strategy and forecasts in support of key financial targets involving business plan, budget, performance reports and guidance for decision making. - Oversees financial reporting for Global Engineering &amp; R&amp;D business unit performance and spending, along with R&amp;D projects for new product introductions. - Provides monthly rolling forecast on functional department expenditures and fixed assets, including headcount and employment costs relative to budget targets, ensuring budget trade-off decisions are defined. - Drives and develops standardized project-based reporting tools to support planning, forecasting, and complex business case analysis for function. - Manages integration of all tools, database, and processes for project-based reporting and accounting. - Monitors financial performance and provides recommendations to stakeholders to implement corrective actions and ensure delivery against financial commitments. - Supports External Audits (Interim and Year-end), as well as internal Audits, Financial project-based reporting. - Manages internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and procedures, along with the annual impairment review process for R&amp;D intangibles. - Provides commercial financial decision support by establishing operational policies and procedures, aligned with the strategic and commercial imperatives of the division. - Administers established processes and drives process improvement, leading larger projects cross-functionally. - Provides strategic partnership to senior management in offering financial guidance via analysis, reporting, recommendations and ensures underlining processes to track performance against each of the imperatives in place to support performance and business effectiveness. - Increases profitability and improves performance for the business through thinking and acting strategically, challenging and influencing decision making, and proactively identifying solutions beyond finance. - Primary coordination for the division in global closing and planning. Creates, maintains and circulates reports and analytics on a monthly basis including but not limited analysis, profitability, trends, etc. and support agreement creation and execution process. - Active on business teams to locate and create value for the broader functional area. Reviews and approves recommendations for financial planning and control, providing relevant insights to executive leadership team based on financial subject matter expertise. - Provides primary financial and business input overseeing cost and performance management activities. Shares scorecard and guidance to senior leadership working in concert with top managers to guide business decisions to achieve overall Smiths Medical objectives. - Provides support on strategic plan development, prioritization and effectiveness for the functional area with stakeholders. - Leads develop and coordinate necessary and appropriate monthly business commentary and analytics and a regular cadence of planning and budget processes, along with creating and leading implementation of global processes and programs/projects. - Oversees the development of functional plans to improve business performance. Including human capital resource planning with selecting, developing, and evaluating Individual Contributor and Subordinate level talent. - Coaches and develops Analyst talent. - Other responsibilities or projects as assigned. - Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement. The Individual - An MBA from top-notch Business school - 7+ years of progressive professional experience in a large corporate environment. - Experience in financial operations; possesses knowledge of the immediate areas of support and has worked in a similar leadership position. - Qualified Accountant recognized professional accreditation, CPA or MBA preferred. - Preferred exposure to Hyperion Financial System or comparable systems. - Advanced Excel skills, as well as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. - Strong Financial acumen and excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills - Demonstrates integrity and trust in all interactions and is committed to continuous process improvement. - Knowledge comparable ERP system required. - Knowledge of an array of financial reporting systems. - Leverages exceptional attention to detail, prioritization and successful navigation in a matrix environment surrounding deadlines. - Exceptional communication skills in order to influence, collaborate, and partner with finance and non-finance professionals.
