The Digital Platforms development team is part of the Workplace Solutions (WS) Technology group. Our team is responsible for new and enhanced design and development of application areas across WSI. Our primary focus is Net Benefits via the web and mobile channels. As an Architect, you will focus on both front end and back end technologies, working directly with both technical and business stakeholders to translate a vision and designs into sustainable business solutions. You will be responsible for the development of complex software applications, ensuring they are built with quality, consistency to our architectural standards, performance and responsive to the device accessing the application. You will also be accountable for ensuring progress on our tlm plans in accordance with our digital platform technical roadmap.

Role Description:

This Architect will play a Technical Architecture role within the Digital Platforms Development team. This individual will be responsible for the creation of quality web/mobile based software components that are used by Fidelity's workplace customers. This individual will work closely with business sponsors, project managers, systems analysts, architects and other developers to analyze / recommend changes in project development policies, procedures, standards and strategies. This role demonstrates advanced business knowledge and may have a specific business background through training and application experience

Responsibilities of the role includes

- Act as a trusted advisor and recommend actionable architecture solutions in support of the business initiatives balancing technology direction.

- Hands on, able to act as a bridge between architecture principles and designs along with intent to collaborate to make things happen.

- Actively participate in planning, definition, design & integration of IT Product/Application releases working with other product architects as required to assure consistency of product development and adoption of the product asset base across the product line

- Actively participate in product release cycle, daily stand up as well as helping team with tactical activities like code review, design optimization etc.

- Lead and present a technical solution (e.g. POC) and the underlying business requirements that drove its development;

- Work closely with IT Product/Application teams in technology selection, evaluation, recommendation and configuration

- Build and maintain effective relationships with product managers, WS architects and technical leads for individual products

- Contribute to the development of WS digital architecture blueprint by monitoring industry and technology trends and directions

- Evaluate and recommend technology and frameworks for flexibility, long-term viability, and time to market

- Regularly provides guidance, training and mentoring to enable other team members to meet/exceed expectations

- Develops comprehensive documentation for architecture recommendations and collaborate on delivery of other architectural programs.

Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of internet, mobile, and application architecture, as well as current and emerging technologies

Demonstrates expert understanding of the software development process including analysis, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planning

Ability to articulate architecture solution options to the product management and architecture leadership

Ability to provide technical leadership and hands on day to day solution to the development, QA and support teams in preparing the design artifacts and implementation of solutions

Ability to identify integration patterns and points between various design areas and should be able to track the implementation of integrations

Ability to analyze business direction and problem, understand long term vision and risk and develop strategy and guide technical solutions

Ability to work with peers, technical and non-technical team members on POCs and Projects independently

Ability to identify measurable dimensions (including ROI) of a solutions options with pros and cons

Ability to quickly learn, adapt and drive to meet the needs of a fast paced, changing environment

Ability to communicate effectively with and to influence team members and external groups

Excellent presentation, documentation, communication and influencing skills as well as skills which present/influence technology direction in business context to the stakeholders

Required

Strong software development skills using Java and web application technologies in a service oriented architecture

Experience in Server Side technologies like Java, J2EE, JSON, Servlets

Experience with Spring REST / MVC, Apache Camel

Open Source Frameworks - Spring MVC, Spring Core, Spring REST, Apache Camel

Working experience of Inversion of Control, dependency injection, and MVC design pattern

Experience and knowledge of HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS3, Ajax, JQuery, HTML5, BackBone, Angular

Experience with the following: GIT, Maven, Jenkins, uDeploy, JIRA, Artifactory, Dynatrace, Sonar

Strong knowledge of responsive web design and technologies

Strong knowledge of continuous integration, static code analysis and test driven development

Strong internet security and OAuth, Open ID Connect etc knowledge and best practices

Strong experience on performance analysis and tuning.

Desirable

Knowledge of client side and mobile technologies: Node, Handlebars and Cordova a plus

Knowledge of Database technologies and sql.

Knowledge of Cloud patterns like Docker, AWS
