Job Summary:  This position supports activities of the Search Services group within the EY Knowledge organization. This position will be part of a Global team responsible for developing, measuring and supporting the Enterprise Search capability within EY. The Internal Search Services Analyst will participate in and support Enterprise Search activities by utilizing a common set of tools, methodologies and processes while assisting to identify and capture best practices for continuous improvement.  This role is focused on executing repeatable processes for measuring search, analysis of the measures captured to uncover user satisfaction with search, and improving search through changes. The person will work with the internal search analytic team to deliver work through consistently applying designated processes, standards and technology tools at the direction of the search services manager or assistant manager. The current volume of requests and analysis required in monitoring and supporting search limits the capabilities of the search services team. We have identified a need for a junior resource to assist with administration, data analysis and data cleansing efforts, as well as the need for broader information retrieval knowledge. Many of the planned efforts to improve search are ongoing process and measurement which will require continual attention and work.   Purpose of the Job:  This role is required to deliver quality search results. This role will allow development of a measured and optimized search engine algorithm and a clear and continuing understanding of the client serving practitioners needs and behavior.   The purpose of enterprise search is to provide the capability to locate the right information, at the time of inquiry, to meet the user's needs. For the system to supply this capability, it requires that the right information be in the system, that this information matches the user's expectations, and that the right information appears in the first 3 items returned. Each service line within EY is unique. The service line members have unique perspectives on what questions will be asked, what information is needed to answer those questions and how the concept will be expressed. To ensure that the needs of these unique service line members are being met by our system, both current and future, it is important to have the input of those service lines in our measurement of success. Because those needs change over time due to changes in content, changes in requests, and changes in the business environment, we need to continually provide input into the system.  Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:   Assist the internal search engine supervising analyst in:  - Measuring the quality of search results using precision, recall, mean reciprocal rank and other measures  - Monitoring search engine performance e.g. uptime, query response time, metrics, etcetera  - Studying search usage logs to identify misspelled queries, acronyms, synonyms, and nicknames.   - Creating, monitoring and maintenance of Best Bets, Query Rules, Results Types, Result Blocks and Ranking Models for SharePoint 2013 search  - Applying known processes and analysis to existing content on direction from others  - Understanding the user intent through observation, inference, data analysis, data cleansing and text analysis  Knowledge and Skills Requirements:  - Strong problem solving, reasoning and analytical skills  - Detail oriented, Data driven  - Strong communication skills - written, verbal and presentation skills   - Comfort with navigating through ambiguity  - Strong time management and organizational skills  - Ability to prioritize, drive and adapt to change quickly  - Commitment to continual process improvement   Supervision Responsibilities:  This role is closely supervised by the internal search engine supervising analyst. Work will be done at the direction of the search engine supervising analyst.   Other Requirements:  Other duties as directed by the internal search engine supervising analyst  Job Requirements:  Education:  - Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Information Science  - MBA in general management  Experience:  - 3 - 5 years of experience  - Working knowledge of SharePoint is plus  - Working knowledge of data analytics, statistical analysis  - Hands on experience with advanced Microsoft Excel, VBA macros  - Demonstrated ability to plan and successfully execute tasks and initiatives in support of complex projects  Preferred experience and knowledge:  - Knowledge of knowledge management, content management, library science is desired  - Familiarity with SharePoint, Enterprise Search, Information Retrieval concepts and techniques  - Data analysis, analytics skills
