Position summary

The role is for the Climate Change & Decarbonisation vertical of CCaSS, with focus on the financial services sector. Within this, the Senior Manager will be expected to lead solution verticals on climate change advisory and strategy, climate change analytics, climate risk stress testing, transition & physical risk assessment, net zero emissions alignment (in line with recognised frameworks such as SBTi), decarbonisation strategies and climate related reporting.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading Managers, Seniors & Staff on multiple client engagements as well as on building out solution capabilities and developing client relationships across multiple geographies. The role requires program management skills, strong team building and problem-solving capabilities along with deep knowledge of financial concepts. Expertise in the most pressing issues around climate change & decarbonisation in the context of financial services is also required. While the Senior Manager will be based out of our Gurgaon / Noida / Bangalore / Mumbai / Pune / Kolkata / Hyderabad offices, the individual will be required to travel to other countries (short term) for executing the client engagements.

This role will provide opportunities to lead and develop teams across solution clusters, requiring application of program management and problem-solving skills to solve multiple client issues. It will also provide the Senior Manager deep and continuous learning experiences in climate change and sustainability, which are some of the leading focus areas globally for clients. The Senior Manager will also be able to enhance their commercial skillset through exposure to business development opportunities during stakeholder meetings and project execution.

Primary responsibilities

- Lead the Climate Change and Decarbonization CCaSS solutions

- Provide subject matter expertise on sustainability and climate risk areas, inter-alia, including risk frameworks, governance, management and measurement, stress testing, strategy, and regulatory expectations

- Oversee multiple engagements and provide expertise on global, complex, and high-profile projects related to climate change and decarbonisation solutions

- Lead development of business advisory and analytical approaches for assessing transition risk, physical risk, net zero emissions alignment & ESG scoring, and preparation of climate change roadmaps for clients

- Contribute to materials, tools, and methodologies to support CCaSS proposition in client meetings, engagements, events, and broader thought leadership

- Maintain detailed knowledge of global Sustainability regulations and awareness of market trends, competitor activity and offerings

- Focus on developing solutions using technology and data analytics to drive efficiencies in the markets they oversee

- Develop and implement plans strategic to GDS CCaSS that contribute to business growth, recognizing the risks and opportunities from business/ commercial trends

- Manage and grow GDS CCaSS services in our multiple regions, with high quality service across all CCaSS engagements, by being connected, responsive and insightful, internally and with clients

- Create short-term and long-term business plans; align them with the Area/ Regional CCaSS leaders and their market leadership plans (MLPs)

- Work with defined geographies and create targets for delivered hours; responsible for successfully monitoring results against the budget for key KPIs (number of hours delivered, utilization, linearity of hours)

Qualifications, skills, and experience

- Graduate or post-graduate degree in business administration, engineering, commerce, or science from reputed institutes

- 11+ years of experience (preferably with reputed consulting firms, financial services institutions, or research firms) in financial services, consulting, research and climate change, environment, and sustainability related areas

- Expertise in climate change advisory and strategy, climate change analytics, climate risk stress testing, transition & physical risk assessment, net zero emissions alignment, decarbonization strategies and climate related reporting

- Deep understanding of the marketplace, as well as commonly used terminology, processes, and tools

- Excellent and demonstrable platform & engagement management, problem solving and analytical skills

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear messages with stakeholders

- Strong understanding of climate change related terminology and of TCFD, GRI, SASB etc. standards

- Understanding of ESG data, KPIs, data vendors and service providers is a plus

- Certifications in climate change, environment, and sustainability related areas from GRI, SASB, GARP, CDP etc. are a plus

- CFA/ FRM certifications are a plus
