Job Title: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Reports to: SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF PROGRAMS

Location: NOIDA

Introduction:

Passing Gifts Private Limited (PGPL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Heifer International USA and it provide services in educating, consulting, training, advising, and providing professional and technical services to individuals, associations, and entities in India and abroad, particularly those who support or are working in the areas of social advancement and sustainable development.

Responsibilities:

- Program Leadership and Strategy (35%):

Represent organization to build strong relationships and collaborations with national and local government, counterparts, grass root organizations, private sector, non-governmental organizations, donors and partners.

S/he will work in collaboration with signature program directors to achieve the following:

- Annual and multiyear plans and budgets are developed and followed.

- Identify potential geographical areas based on signature program strategy and resource opportunities.

- Program has best-in-class expertise to identify, analyze and recommend demand-driven, pro-poor wealth creating value chains.

- Oversee organizational and programmatic policies and ensure staff is informed and involved in development issues, policies and innovations (socioeconomic, ecological/environmental, cultural, and political).

- Mentor the program directors in planning and implementation and ensure coherence among all program departments for quality performance.

- Oversee processes are in place for country program/office monitoring and evaluation of overall results and goals, including annual Internal Review and Planning (IRAP) and signature program reviews.

- Ensure project implementation is on track (on time, on scope and on budget).

Business Development and Strategy (30%):

The Executive Director will provide significant contribution to the line of potential business, and will carry out the following key roles:

- To forge new relations for the organizations, maintain and deepen existing "partnerships", including the parent organization.

- Ensure that PGPL becomes a known brand among key stakeholders and strategic collaborations and "partnerships" are forged.

- The Executive Director will invest in new relationships and "partnerships", including brand development, within current networks and "partnerships", and with potential new clients, donors and collaborators and multilateral and unilateral funding sources, to develop and expand PGPL's consultancies.

- The Executive Director will provide guidance in maintaining and cultivating a strong program portfolio and project pipeline, in alignment with signature program priorities and donor interest, ensuring program continuity and growth.

- In connection with this, the Executive Director will make certain a resource development and diversification strategy is in place, and includes institutional, foundation and corporate funding, to meet long-range resource and program needs (including blended finance).

- The Executive Director will provide clear supervision and coordination of new project development process in collaboration with appropriate team members, to ensure high quality, competitive, and timely proposals that obtain all the necessary internal inputs and approvals, and are fully compliant and responsive to donor requirements.

Program Impact and Learning (20%):

Provide oversight of signature program quality to achieve goals and overall impact implemented through PGPL via the following actions:

- Develop and implement accelerated, viable and logical intervention strategies that help reach signature program coverage and objectives.

- Develop and implement strategies that promote innovation, and ensure prototyping is in place and being implemented.

- Facilitate the implementation of appropriate, inclusive business interventions within programs and projects, for a complete value chain.

- Facilitate the development and growth of competitive farmer-owned agri-businesses, cooperatives and social enterprises as centres of excellence within the projects (which will attract capital and generate economic opportunities).

Operations Excellence and Management (10%):

- The Executive Director will be accountable for building an agile and future-facing organization, and leading high-performance teams, ensuring all teams are aligned and collaborating to achieve organization results.

- The Executive Director will identify the existing capacity and gaps within the organization, and implement strategies to improve financial, operational and human resources efficiency.

- The Executive Director will directly supervise senior leadership positions, working with the Program Director's, Director Resource Mobilization, Finance Director, and Social Capital Manager to manage organizational spending, monitor budget compliance, mitigate financial risks, and lead PGPL in the delivery of exceptional quality development programs.

Asia Area Council Business:

- The Executive Director will actively participate as a member of the Asia Council and in co-mentoring/co-monitoring with other Asia country programs.

- The Executive Director will assist PGPL in advancing the mission of ending hunger and poverty and caring for the Earth.

- Along with that, the Executive Director will lead the process of designing and implementing a strategic and PGPL at the country level under the global strategic framework.

Governance:

- Work with the governing bodies PGPL to fulfill the organizational mission.

- The Executive Director will lead in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission as defined by their respective governing bodies.

- The Executive Director will communicate effectively with the governing bodies of PGPL and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the governing bodies to function properly and make informed decisions.

- S/he will report to and work closely with the governing bodies of PGPL to seek their involvement in policy decisions and fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.

- S/he may perform other job-related duties as assigned including other tasks outlined in various service agreements

Qualifications and Experience:

- Master's Degree from a recognized university or equivalent in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or a related field, 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.

- Prior experience in resource mobilization, strategic planning-whether through grants, cooperative agreements or contracts (preferably with institutional sources such as USAID, EU, IFAD or the World Bank, with foundations, and with multinational companies).

- Proven professional experience of managing at least a one-million-USD project portfolio and results in agriculture/community development/grassroots organizations.

Required Skills:

- Excellent leadership qualities, communication skills, and organizational skills including strong attention to detail.

- Lead the mission and vision of the organization, build a high-performing senior leadership team, develop a best-in-class staff along with the governing bodies of PGPL, so PGPL clients receive high-quality services.

- Cultivate excellent relationships with local media; provide oversight for PGPL presence in the social media and keep PGPL current and at the forefront of regional community service philanthropic organizations.

Must Haves:

- Master's Degree from a recognized university or equivalent in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or a related field, 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.

- Prior experience in resource mobilization, strategic planning-whether through grants, cooperative agreements or contracts (preferably with institutional sources such as USAID, EU, IFAD or the World Bank, with foundations, and with multinational companies).

- Proven experience in development actions under the following or related themes: Food Security and Nutrition, Environment, Women's Empowerment and Social Capital, animal well-being, one health in terms of with planning, monitoring, evaluating, project management, managing institutional project budgets.
