About the Organisation

This reputed family foundation was set up to provide scholarships, grants and awards in various fields to outstanding young Indians to enable them to develop their professional, scientific, artistic and cultural abilities. Over the last four decades, several hundred scholars have benefited from scholarships, awards and grants in India and abroad.

The Foundation looks for the unusual, searches out the special and spots people with promise, supporting their academic aspirations with grants and mentorship. Today, many Foundation alumni are leaders with global reputations in their chosen fields.

The work of the Foundation has been lauded for its unimpeachable integrity, its focus on finding and nurturing excellence, and its ongoing commitment to the power of a great education as an unlock for human potential.

The Position

Since inception, the Foundation has established a reputation for excellence in every aspect of its programming. In the past few years, it has expanded its remit from the flagship program of educational scholarships for the highly gifted, to supporting residencies, grants and fellowships in the areas of arts and conservation, research and social impact. The Foundation is now looking to hire an Executive Director to:

- Manage and grow the scholarship and grants programme portfolio

- Mentor and support the selected scholars; build out a robust and well-connected alumni community

- Nurture key stakeholder relationships across academic institutions, the local and global Board, and domain experts

- Spearhead growth and marketing for the Foundation, with ownership of all communication and outreach

- Oversee the Foundation's operations with the highest standards of regulatory compliance

Competencies:

The candidate should be an individual with a passion for the impact sector; with at least 15-20 years of work experience, preferably in the education sector, with 3 or more years of independent leadership experience.

- Empathetic Leader: S/he must be a considerate and thoughtful leader, self-driven and internally motivated, with the intellectual curiosity and entrepreneurial energy to recognise talent and build on new opportunities

- Relationship builder: S/he should be able to engage a diverse set of stakeholders - the Board, scholars, institutions and alumni, while managing the team at the Foundation, providing mentorship and guidance

- Execution excellence: the individual must be able to push for better and more at all times, a doer with the ability to focus on operations, processes, and outcomes

- Personal characteristics: S/he must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be engaging and collaborative. The person must have wide ranging interests, learning agility, impeccable integrity, and a long-term orientation

Location The incumbent will be based in Bombay.
