Essex - Senior UX/Interaction Designer - BI Tool Testing

Responsibilities:

We're looking for a UX / Interaction Designer to help the design team building world-class data products.

We want someone who is excited by the idea of bringing clarity to the complex and has the design edge to ensure 'clear' doesn't translate to 'boring'; someone who knows how to engage an audience and knows how to create product experiences that are smooth and appealing. As a member of the team you will:

- Learn existing applications, solutions and evaluate UX effectiveness.

- Work with product owners and analysts to understand business needs and user stories, develop user profiles, and visual narratives.

- Work closely with design director and UI designers to incorporate a visual or brand identity into the finished product.

- Initiate the UX design process from user stories to polished design, using sketches, wireframes, UX scenarios, and mockups to bring the product vision to life for clients and team members.

- Develop design wireframes and prototypes to weigh the pros and cons of a design, maintain design wireframes and sepcifications in time.

- Define interaction models, user task flows, and UI (user interface) specifications.

- Communicate scenarios, end-to-end experiences, interaction models and screen designs to other people working on a product.

- Conduct competitor analysis, user research and user testing initiatives. Analyze results from the research and make decisions on how to improve a product's design.

- Keep up to date with the latest trends in data visualization and brainstorm and develop new ideas and methods.

- Learn from the talented people surrounding you and work hard to help them learn from your unique skill set.

- Mentor junior and intermediate designers and provide design feedback.

Requirement:

We're looking for someone who is passionate about user experience. You genuinely enjoy problem-solving and finding patterns, and won't rest until you've found the perfect solution. The perfect candidate should have some of these:

- Bachelor's degree or above in human-computer interaction, graphic design, computer science, information technology or a releated field.

- Have 5 or more years experience of professional UX experience.

- Expertise in developing wireframes and prototypes.

- Extensive knowledge of user research and user testing methods.

- Have the skills in using Sketch, Figma, Axure, Adobe XD, or an equivalent application to develop high-quality design.

- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

- Good at understanding user and client problems and are able to propose smart design solutions to address them

- Able to present your ideas and designs to clients and participate in client meetings

- Have a portfolio of websites, designs, or software that express your passion for this field and display your ability to bring clarity to the complex

- Have experience designing beautiful and engaging software

- Have a strong opinion on what needs changing in a design and be able to explain how and why those changes will be effective

- Have experience using your UX/UI skills to gather data and perfect digital experiences

- Be able to point to one of your favourite visualizations/interfaces and explain what makes it so good

- Be well-organized, able to effectively communicate with team members.

- Fluent in English writing and speaking.

- Nice to have but not necessary: Be excited to find stories in the data and ideally have some basic familiarity with Excel, R, Tableau or Python.
