ESG & Climate Risk Specialist - Consulting Firm - Contractual Role

Project Overview:

Our client is a prestigious consulting firm and their Risk Management practice is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a skilled ESG and Climate Risk Specialist. This is a Contract to hire role and the successful candidate will be hired to a permanent role after initial 3-6 months. The role focuses on advising our esteemed clients on financial risk management, with a particular emphasis on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and climate risk.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal client-facing role, demonstrating deep technical capabilities, professional knowledge, and a keen understanding of the current business and industry trends. By establishing strong relationships with clients and becoming their trusted advisor, you will ensure project excellence and the highest quality of work output.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deep collaboration with clients to understand the ESG landscape comprehensively.

- Perform thorough ESG assessments, identifying areas for improvement.

- Develop and implement bespoke ESG strategies and initiatives.

- Guide clients on integrating ESG practices into their business operations, focusing on lending, investment activities, and community impact.

- Engage with stakeholders to communicate ESG efforts effectively.

- Ensure clients comply with ESG regulations and reporting requirements.

- Develop climate risk assessment frameworks tailored to client needs.

- Integrate climate risk assessments across existing risk practices.

- Provide thought leadership on regulations, trends, and best practices in ESG and climate risk.

- Lead training and foster a culture of sustainability within client organizations.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

- At least 6+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 4+ years in ESG/sustainability advisory.

- Expertise in ESG principles, frameworks, and reporting standards.

- Proficient in climate change risk management for financial sector clients.

- Skilled in conducting ESG assessments and developing tailored strategies.

- Familiar with sustainability reporting frameworks like GRI, SASB, TCFD.

- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Analytical mindset for interpreting data and identifying trends.

- Excellent writing skills, capable of leading thought leadership initiatives.

- Strong project management skills with a commitment to meeting client deadlines.
